My preference is Firefox. Some things though I find aren't compatible with firefox and I have to change browsers to Chrome or Safari.

I've been using Firefox for years after Netscape Navigator bit the dust. Had Internet Explorer for a while as well until I got hit with a nasty virus one time. It's also why I avoid Edge.
I'd say the only advantage of Chrome is that they offer more extensions. That's about it. I wouldn't use it as my main browser because, like you said, privacy concerns.
There's one more you could try called Opera. They have a built-in VPN. Only reason to have it, though.
