Good Evening Folks,
I'd like some thoughts.
I was brought up Irish Catholic and got my degree from a Catholic University.
Shockingly - during theology classes - we delved into other religions and philosophies.
I fell in love with Eastern Culture - i.e. the concept of I Ching a form of Daoism and Teoism one may argue is a branch and extension from Buddhism and Hinduism - i.e. - you concentrate on you and being the best you you can be.
My question for you fine folks -
Even though you believe what you believe - even if you are searching for the ultimate happiness - do you go through periods of doubt?
My self doubt - that my 'God' does not talk to me - is this a reflection upon myself and my own insecurities?

after surviving the first quarter century of my life surrounded by religion, i have absolutely no doubt that religion is nothing more than a glorified wet dream.
faith in one another can actually achieve far more than any thoughts and prayers ever could.

Thank you kind sir.
Was there a life changing event perhaps - I noticed you said 'nowadays'.
Something that perhaps strengthened your faith?

Do you perhaps consider yourself 'spiritual' - i.e. not following a specific religion; however being the best 'you' that 'you' can be.

i consider myself a part-time deep thinker. i've been at it for decades now. hoovering around the hearts and minds of friends and foes alike. listening has become an art form to me. although as i grow older, i value more and more the time i have to set mouse to word pad. 'best' is all relative. i strive to set words free and in doing so, i am fulfilled.

that you consider yourself a 'listener'.
Not so quick to judge eh?
respect others for their viewpoints even though you may disagree deep down in your heart - i.e. you don't judge and live and let live...…

No. Over time you read more, research more, figure out stuff, and put into practice what you learn. Faith isn’t something that should be in constant turmoil so it should really only be affect by changes you haven’t thought of before or challenges that contradict it. That doesn’t happen too often.

May I ask if you follow a 'Zen' behavioral pattern and have you ever heard of I Ching?
Seems like you're own who doesn't let your 'spirit' so to speak be affected by the everyday conditions of daily life - and are much more concentrated on the mind and soul.

It is an interesting use of the word 'preach'. Simply put yes, if it means having to accept other people's religion. I defend their right to have one, just so long as it doesn't affect me. If you had used the word 'taught' as in meaning the dissemination of knowledge, then I would say that I like everything to do with acquiring 'knowledge', hence my presence on this Board. I am here for discussion and discourse on the important issues of life and death and everything in between.
