Not nearly as often as I used to. Nowadays it's just a few times a year.

That's astounding! Do you go to film festivals? no, but sometimes i see double features of classic films, so not all of them are new.

Plus ill add... I imagine nowadays people are probably less respectful of others than they used to be not all that long ago. like with these smart phones being standardized people can't get off of them for more than a second. it's like why even bother going to the theaters if your not going to put everything else aside for a couple of hours and watch the damn movie.
to you. they are low-lifes who have no respect for others. hell, even looking at it from their own perspective... why would they pay $ to see a movie that they largely won't watch because they are screwing around on their smart phone etc. or I have heard those stories of parents bringing their little kids to R rated movies etc. it's like common sense eludes them as while no one is perfect, it should be obvious to keep little kids away from R rated content. plus, I suspect many of these types can't keep reasonably quiet as I don't mind a little brief noise here and there but after a certain point you should flat out not be in the theaters. p.s. for the record... I never really had a bad theater experience but then again, as you can see from my initial post in here, I rarely get to the theaters and the times I have are typically not movies that attract the trash and if you look more at say the last 10-15 years, roughly those of the smart phone era, I have been to the theaters a very minimal amount, thankfully. plus, at home... you can pause the movie if you need to go to the bathroom or for a snack and don't have to worry about people acting up etc. Personally I think the 'cinema experience' is overrated especially once we decent sized HDTV's became common for most people. about the only area the theaters is better is the sound system and huge screen but I am not all that concerned with a huge screen when a typical modern TV looks better as I am not a fan of projected image in the theaters as it's a bit too soft (I am not saying it looks bad or anything but ill take a proper BluRay (or the like) over the theater in general). to her also darkpast Damn, that's quite a bit of $. I just can't see too many movies worth theater prices. hell, I think lately it's getting more difficult to find movies worth seeing as my peak year in terms of volume of movies seen released in a given year is 2013 at about 121 movies where as in recent years, say 2017 on forward, I have not even cracked 50+ each year. or look at it this way, from what my IMDb account says looking at 2017/2018 (and soon to be 2019 (I suspect 2019 will be THE lowest volume of movies seen since at least 1991, possibly even into the 1980's as the vast majority of my favorite movies have been from the 1990's to date))... I would have to go back to 1994 to find a year with a lower volume of movies seen. hell, even if you get those 50+ movies for a cheap price (say even if you went as low as $3) that's like $150 as I would rather put that towards getting the higher quality movies in a given year on say BluRay etc. but I guess depending on how much you enjoyed those 50+ movies you might feel differently but based on my experience in the past, when a person see's 50+ movies in a given year your guaranteed to be mostly forgettable movies even though I think most would be at least alright enough for a viewing but since I ultimately judge movies based on whether I want to re-watch them or not, in this regard, over the long term, only around 20% of everything I see passes this test.

Used to be 3-4 times per year on average, but this year I've gone every three to four weeks. Too many movies piquing my interest this year, I guess. I predict next year will be a lighter load.

For me it can be all over the place. Last year it was 16, although half of them were at a festival. Then there was a period I had watched maybe 2 or 3 films within 4-5years. This year it’s been 2 so far (Brightburn & Dirty Harry), although I’m seeing Child’s Play tomorrow. And I do have a cinema voucher to use up... so I’ll be seeing films I probably would have waited on.

Probably about 30 times a year including 1-2 festivals (5-10 films each) and a few screenings of older films.

Usually at least 2 or 3 times a month. However, I've only gone to the cinema 6 times so far this year which is a lot lower than usual for me. I'd say the reason for this is because the vast majority of the films that have been coming out recently look terrible to me and I don't want to waste my time on them. The only films that are coming out for the rest of the year that I want to see in the cinema are Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Irishman (if I can find it in a cinema near me), The Lighthouse, A Hidden Life, 1917, Doctor Sleep, Little Women, The Goldfinch (mostly just because Roger Deakins did the cinematography), and maybe Ford v. Ferrari.
