NBA analysts repeatedly continue to say the Pelicans should have one of the better defenses in the NBA. Because of the talent they have now acquired through the draft (Zion Williamson), the Anthony Davis trade, and who was already there before the draft (Jrue Holiday).
They may need to mature a little on offense. But defensively they are loaded.
One big reason analysts are so supportive is the new General Manager David Griffin.
What do you think?
(I don't know basketball, but it seems the Pelicans got more out of the Anthony Davis trade, than the Lakers.)

A bit. Those are extremes. Last season they played at a very fast pace. I wonder if that will change this season and to what extent. AD himself was a good defender so interesting to see if the new combination will result in a superior defensive rating. Last season they were among the worst defensively.

A bit. Those are extremes. What is extreme? The two options, hence I chose other. They were not just yes and no.

It'll take a couple of years to tell. These guys don't know each other and will have to play a year just to get used to each other. Very young team too, I wouldn't expect anything right away.

JJ Redick to Pels 2 years 26.5M "Free-agent guard JJ Redick has agreed to a two-year, $26.5 million deal to join the New Orleans Pelicans, league sources told ESPN.
Redick joins a Pelicans roster that expects to compete for the playoffs despite the loss of Anthony Davis in a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers.
New Orleans is also close on coming to an agreement on a deal with veteran big man Derrick Favors, sources tell ESPN on Sunday.
Redick's ability to spread the floor with his 3-point shooting played an immense part in the Sixers turnaround for the past two years. Redick shot 39.7% on 3-pointers last season, which freed All-Star center Joel Embiid. His shooting became even more important for the Sixers once the team traded Robert Covington and Dario Saric to Minnesota for Jimmy Butler.
Redick averaged a career-high 18.1 points per game last season, including 63 starting assignments."www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/27091706/sources-pelicans-land-redick-2-years-265m
