When I go to this site on my laptop, i just get the site with lines of text. Looks like an old 90's website. It works but its confusiong as hell. On mu clunky desktop and on my phone, all is well. I rebooted and Signed out so it isn't that.

If your laptop(or even desktop for that matter) has a bunch of junk installed on it... wipe the drive and install Windows clean (you will either need to burn a DVD or use a USB thumb drive(8GB(maybe 4GB in some cases)) to do this). you won't regret it. NOTE: before proceeding I need to know what your using etc. if it's a older computer, or with low RAM (say 1-2GB)... I suggest installing Linux Mint (i.e. www.linuxmint.com/ ; it's 100% free) on it. NOTE: no one should be using WinXP online anymore as it's not secure! ; Linux Mint on the other hand is and it's free and a good replacement OS for those using older hardware etc. Linux Mint requires 1GB of RAM (although 2GB+ is recommended) but anyone who does not have AT LEAST that much RAM on their computer has a ancient computer and the thing will be pretty much useless at that point anyways. as a added bonus with using Linux... since it's not Windows, your largely immune (not 100% as there is no such thing as 100% security online) to viruses online simply because almost all of those shady people target Windows since it's the dominate desktop/laptop OS at roughly 87% of the market where as for comparison Linux only has roughly 2%. but with that said, a quick tip that's minimal effort on your part... with Firefox, when the site that's not working properly has loaded in your browser, hold the shift key and press the RELOAD icon it will force the browser to reload from the internet instead of your browser cache (or you can try clearing your web browsers cache, then exit the browser, reload the browser and see if it works).
or... try another browser. so if your using Chrome, try Firefox. if your using Firefox, try Chrome (if your using Internet Explorer or Edge try Chrome or Firefox(I prefer Firefox in general)). if one works and the other does not something is probably corrupted in which case you could uninstall the faulty browser, delete it's profile directory etc(which contains it's general configuration files etc), and reinstall the browser and it should be good.
another tip... as a general rule, I suggest installing 'uBlock Origin' (by Raymond Hill) on Chrome/Firefox browsers as it removes a lot of junk online (i.e. popups/ads and other unwanted junk) and makes your internet experience that much better as I would not browse the internet without a decent ad/popup etc blocker.
p.s. but really, if the your laptop etc runs quite sluggish and you got a bunch of random crap installed on it over the years... a clean install (i.e. wipe the hard drive and install the OS from scratch) is your best bet as then you can guarantee everything will run as smooth as possible on your hardware and there will be no viruses/malware etc on it.
NOTE: everything I mentioned above does not cost you any $ as long as you already have a 4GB, but preferably 8GB, flash drive you can use. you will have to delete all data on the flash drive temporarily though when installing the OS (operating system) to your computer from the USB flash drive.

mslo79 Good lord, man. Your solution for everything is installing Linux Mint. It's a fine OS but I don't think that's the best first step.

Mucho appreciation to both of you. Bart, I'll send a screenshot soon. But the simplest solution worked the best. Everything is hunky dory in Google Chrome.

mslo79 Good lord, man. Your solution for everything is installing Linux Mint. It's a fine OS but I don't think that's the best first step.
Well basically my default suggestion for people with a fair amount of computer problems is wipe the drive and reinstall the OS be it Windows or Linux Mint. I realize this can be a bit time consuming but it's worth it, especially if their computer is messed up beyond a certain point and things are sluggish etc. then one can pretty much guarantee their computer is in good running order. without doing this stuff, who knows what the state of a random persons computer is.
also, I did mention more browser specific stuff in my post since it will take up much less of that persons time and will likely solve this persons specific issue.
p.s. while Mint is nice on a bit more recent computers, I think it's especially better than Windows on older hardware, like those with 1-4GB of RAM (especially 1-2GB) and given that many might still have Windows 7 installed, which support ends for that in Jan 2020, which means they got pretty much two choices... upgrade to Windows 10 (the free upgrade still works as of March 2019 as I tested it personally on a couple of old laptops I got a hold of although they currently have Linux Mint on them since it runs better on those as Win10 is a bit too much of a CPU hog which is normally not a issue for a decent computer but those have pretty weak CPU's to where Mint runs noticeably better) or switch to a Linux variation. if one is pretty much using their computer as a general internet machine and not too much beyond this... Linux Mint is probably the better option because an average person is much less likely to screw up their PC with a bunch of junk like they might with Windows, especially those people who are install happy where they just randomly install stuff and since Windows stuff (like your typical EXE file and the like) won't install on Linux, it's more immune to being screwed up by those more computer illiterate types of people. although a small issue in Mint is that the user has to manually allow updates to install on Mint as while the OS automatically checks for updates, it's on the user to install them. so this could be a potential security risk if they fail to install them within a reasonable time frame. but it's easy enough as if you see the shield with the green check mark in the taskbar, there are no updates. it changes to a blue looking thing when there are updates and then you left click it and pretty much click the 'install updates'. it's pretty easy.
EDIT: come to think of it... in my initial post I should have posted the fix stuff first (i.e. trying another browser, or clearing browser cache etc) and then gave the suggestion for a clean install etc in the "p.s." section. it would have been better organized that way and a bit more helpful to the OP.
I assume you tried another browser? ; or cleared the browsers cache?
