Your top 80's synth duo. There may have been other members later, or live, some may have dropped the synth later on, but I have chosen acts where the core was basically two people and at least one synth
Omissions...
Sparks & Suicide - 70's
The Associates - was there any synth?
The Assembly - didn't really last that long
Dollar - they were a duo, there were synths, but neither played them

Yeah, talking of Soft Cell, it reminded me of 80s synth duo Vicious Pink Phenomena - they later dropped the 'Phenomena', going simply as Vicious Pink. They had begun as backing singers for Soft Cell. He played the keyboards and she sang. I recall buying their first 12" My Private Tokyo which is below. I liked it a lot and automatically bought the follow-up without first hearing it, an appalling cover version of Je'Taime. I lost touch with them after that one. They later released an album and a couple more singles.

Heaven 17 and Visage are others that come to mind.

Heaven 17 and Visage are others that come to mind. Were they duos when they started to release records or for any significant length of time. Some bands were in flux so much it's difficult to tell

Not much love so far for Blancmange, but they did make a few corkers

Eurythmics Yazoo Yello
Yello is my number 1. Way ahead of their time.

Soft Cell should not be losing this vote... They're not now. Though I would've voted for Eyeless in Gaza above them, easily.

GREAT list!
Of those ones, I chose Erasure.
As for Yazoo, they're known as Yaz in the USA. I know this because I picked up a CD at the Barnes & Noble.
I imagine they are also known as Yaz in Canada, eh?
