Warning: Spoilers
So I saw Dragged Across Concrete and a good amount of it I really enjoyed. I like the cast. I thought Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn were good. I liked the plot. The villains are good. And the film is well crafted.
But seriously what the hell was with the pace of this film? I heard of slow burn films but this is just ridiculous. A slow film is fine but after a while I felt we were just stalling to get the run time as close to 3 hours as we can. Theres a point where it just gets boring and tedious. I guess there are people who like that and of course thats fine but I figure most people would like a fast or at least well paced film. Also there is subplot with Jennifer Carpenter where she does not want to leave her baby to go to work and the result is her getting killed right after they establish her character. Did not know what that had to do with anything or what the point of that was.
5/10

Deliberately paced, but never boring. The slow build and long scenes are part of the reason I like the movie so much.
7.5/10
P.S. - I agree about the Jennifer Carpenter stuff. The scene with her at home is completely unnecessary and it interrupts the flow of the film. I think that stuff is meant to get you to empathize on a personal level with all innocent victims in the world. It was an interesting choice, but it doesn't quite work.

Yeah the build I can understand why some would enjoy but its not really for me. Granted I was not bored with the film I just like my films to move faster. And yeah It crossed my mind that we were supposed to empathize with her but I think that was all a waste.

If every movie was like this movie I wouldn't like that and I also wouldn't like if every movie was like Terminator 2. You said you found it tedious. I didn't find it tedious at all. It's a more entertaining movie than most "fast paced" movies. I am pretty sure you are aware by now that we have completely different taste in movies though.

I loved it the first time I watched it, but figured a second time would be too tedious to handle.
I watched it a second time and still loved it, so I guess I really do just love it. An acquired taste for sure, though.

I have seen five 2019 released movies and this is the only one I like so far... 6/10 (a mild Thumbs Up). but I will say I did see that one part coming where the innocent female crawled over to Vaughn/Gibson and opened fire on them. but that general section of the movie, which I talked about a bit in the spoiler above, is when the movie is at it's best and it does not play out how you would typically expect it to. but with that said... I can see how some people won't like it's pacing as it does tend to go on a bit too long, but overall I was not bored watching it. ill have to see it how it is on a re-watch eventually. Probably to further emphasize how much of a monster the bad guys are etc. so when she got killed the audience felt for her even more.
