poltergeist is obviously a Tobe Hooper film but people keep insisting it looks like Speilberg film. these are assumptions made by people who assume.

George Miller was one of the producers and writers in the BABE movies. He only directed the sequel, but when both installments are discussed, people talk as if George had directed both. wow I always assumed he directed the first!

Chris Noonan directed the original. I feel extra sorry for him since I only learned Miller didn't direct Babe in this thread.

For the longest time I thought Spielberg directed Cast Away. He and Zemeckis have a similar style, but I’m not sure why I could never remember it with that one.

Back in the day, people seemed to almost exclusively talk about Christopher Nolan when it came to Man of Steel, but that seemed to die out by the end of 2013, and these days, pretty much everyone is aware that Zack Snyder directed it.
There’s also the Platinum Dunes TMNT films, which were mainly attributed to Michael Bay, but people have pretty much forgotten about those.
Oh, and back in the day, people like me were under the impression that J.J. Abrams directed Cloverfield.

The Coen Brothers directed The Men Who Stare at Goats. That misconception makes sense since The Men Who Stare At Goats does have a Coen Brothers vibe to it.

I've caught myself several times thinking that Old School is a Judd Apatow thing. Todd Philips. I feel like Old School fine tuned that comedic lane again, & Apatow had most of the rest of the decade to himself.
