For instance, most people can relate to the (usually, but not always) dad that would threaten, "Don't make me stop this car!", or, (usually) when going somewhere fun, "I'll turn this car around !!", whenever the kids in the back seat were getting unruly. Anybody got any others ??  SAVE FERRIS

Going to your room as a punishment. It used to be a kid's room was only used for sleeping. Other than their bed and their clothes there were some toys and maybe some books. Now kids have TVs, stereos, computers, smart phones, video game systems anything and everything they desire and their parents were able to afford to buy them in their rooms. The punishment now is to surrender the smart phone, video game system, PC or whatever.

My mom was too smart for that, she made us stand against the refrigerator.

With the exception of the smart phones, we had that in the 80s and 90s, so that punishment never really made sense to me.
