i cant stand how ridiculously expensive clothing is. and shoes.
where the actual value is a fraction of the product price. and ugly logos ruin most of it. and its not comfortable to be in. and it has fake pockets. fake fucking pockets.
I am not a typical woman in this sense I guess, I dont like expensive handbags, shoes or robes. i dont like anything where you pay for the brand more than the products features.
when i go clothes/shoes shopping I noticed I get quite irritated by how expensive things are. and i am not really poor or anything but who buys 250 shoes or 150 shirt? its killing me that its our there making people feel like thats normal.
i dont need a 3 dollar shirt made by toddlers in burma and am no activist or anti kapitalist but walking through a department store fashion makes me wanna put things on fire.
anyone else annoyed with the clothing and shoes prices?

A little, but there are reasonably priced options available for those who don't want to spend ridiculous amounts. I'm working toward having 90% of my wardrobe consist of Uniqlo, they have nice reasonably priced basics.
For those who do want to spend vast amounts on clothing, good for them.

The thing that gets me most is people's obsession with brands. People will pay five times as much for an article of clothing as they would for a nearly identical item just because it has some guy's name on it.

I guess it depends on your standards (I consider myself somewhere around average as I think many will agree with what I say below simply because if someone varies much outside of what I say below they are probably a bit too far away from the average-ish persons judgement/standards) but I don't think it's difficult to find decent enough clothing that's presentable at a reasonable price, at least speaking for us guys. but to sum things up for me on what I generally stick to... -shirt = $10-30 (although probably more in the $10-20 range, although I don't think $30 or so is unreasonable if it's comfortable etc. but I can't see going much over $30 for a general shirt as if you do I suspect your paying largely for name at that point.) -shoes = $50-100 (in our area your going to have to pay at least $50+ for a decent pair of tennis shoes and for up to around $100 that gives you a solid enough selection, but much over $100-ish is too much. but I generally stick to Asics lately (seem to float in the $50-80 range the last I checked) as I feel they are a comfortable shoe at a solid price that's hard to beat. like a great bang-for-the-buck shoe as your pretty much getting more higher level of comfort but without paying a arm-and-a-leg for it) -pants/shorts = $20-50 (I typically get my pants for around $25, maybe $30 and shorts would be about that, possibly less. but I figure paying more than around $50 your starting to get into that stuff where your paying more for name than anything else.) p.s. I am more of the type who prefers quality over quantity in general and I also have the opinion of that with many things you don't want to get something TOO cheap as your generally better off buying at least mid-grade to help ensure there is some level of quality. because I have noticed for most random things if you go too cheap, quality takes too much of a hit. so at the very least... on many things in general you want to avoid THE cheapest stuff and go AT LEAST a bit up from that at the bare minimum. I would definitely NEVER pay prices you mentioned with $250 shoes/$150 shirt or the like as at this point your largely paying a premium for name without much real world benefit. I figure around $50-ish TOPS you can get decent pants and with shirts I think it's easy enough to find plenty enough selection for $30-ish tops. even shoes, like your typical decent pair of tennis-shoes, those seem to be as low as $50-60 (i.e. Asics and the like) although one might need to pay a little more (maybe as much as $100-ish) if you want a bit better selection while still keeping the price reasonable.
p.s. hell, it's like those people who always have to have THE best... like with general computer tech/cell phones etc, where your current generation is easily good enough but they pay a boatload of $ for something barely better than the previous model makes no sense as I tend to look for bang-for-the-buck which is all around wiser.
Exactly. I think when it comes to clothes, for the most part, it's not worth a high premium as maybe a slight premium but any of that sky high price just ain't worth it. Yeah, and I think what's even more messed up is people actually pay decent $ for torn clothing like holes in the knees in their pants etc etc and it looks like crap. Yeah, I am generally not a fan of political types of shirts etc. maybe something basic would be okay though but nothing purposely offensive etc. Not really because only suckers, or people with money to burn, pay top dollar for overpriced clothing. basically those people who wear something once and dump it, simply have too much $, as it's a major waste of $ as I don't even care if I was super rich, there is no way I would do that. most of us average-ish people will be probably in the ball park of what I mentioned above as what I mentioned above is probably something in the ball park of middle-class range of people as I understand if one wants to go a bit cheaper than the prices I mentioned but you can't go too much cheaper before your selection would be pretty limited as like for shoes for example... if someone is quite poor, you can find cheap really cheap/okay-ish types of shoes for around $20 at places like Wal-Mart etc. but personally I would rather stick to the $50+ range as the extra $ is worth the quality difference. but I guess for those who are more concerned with keeping $ about as minimal as you can (without going the used route and other more maximum $ savings type of methods) your probably looking at a ball park of a rough minimum of $50+ for your entire outfit (i.e. shirt($10)/pants(or shorts)($20-25)/shoes($20)). I guess I forgot to mention underwear which I tend to buy something better than the really cheap stuff as you can notice the overall comfort difference but even this is not a problem as if you can buy decent priced shoes, you can surely afford this type of stuff at say roughly $5-ish tops each one if you don't mind buying a fair amount at once, or find a decent sale etc.
Agreed 100%.
because clothes are not really like other things as once you reach a certain price point the comfort/quality pretty much tops out and at that point, price increases are pretty much strictly for some BS name brand. these people are suckers or simply have too much $ and not any brains.
EDIT: but come to think of it... it seems some people like to brag or show off and I guess for these types they can't afford to look/dress anywhere near "average". but this is basically a lie as these types are too concerned with superficial things etc.

The fake pockets is mostly on women's clothes. It's seldomly seen on men's clothes.
But the price tag versus actual value of the material used is something applied to quite a lot products out there that are not even related to fashion.
For the prices, go on the Internet. I haven't bought a t-shirt in a physical, brick and mortar shop for a decade now. I still buy most of my pants and coats in stores though.
If you hate logos, go at Banana Republic. Their prices are high but on sale you can get some pretty neat stuff at pretty decent prices.

I do buy certain pieces of clothing at the high end, but prefer not to wear any which feature conspicuous logos. My concern is more with quality in terms of fit, feel, look, and longevity. I work with a limited color palette that I can mix and match easily, so a small wardrobe goes a long way. EBay has been a good friend.

That seems to be in line with my desire not to use bumper stickers. I think they are trashy. And they make your vehicle look bad. Like graffitti and tattoos. I feel no need to tell the world anything about myself. If someone wants to know, all they need do is ask.

No, I barely ever give it consideration at all.
Once, in a very great while, I might shake my head and laugh at the ridiculous "creations" male and female models are forced to wear on the runway if I happen to see them on TV, but that's about it.
There are far too many other topics that are actually relevant for me to spend time thinking about to worry about something as irrelevant as fashion.

It's winter, it's currently 0538 hours, it's currently 3C - or 37F - and I'm sitting here as previously described. I haven't worn pajamas since I was a kid. And while I can understand resorting to socks - which I occasionally do myself if it gets cold - what the fuck possessed you to wear or even own crocs?!

They are easy to slip in and out of. They are waterproof (all rubber). And I can wear them anywhere --- unlike slippers. Don't have to worry about getting them dirty. Just either hose them off or submerge them in water. Mine are camouflage colored. Pajamas are warmer than just underwear. And I can wear them to the mailbox and my neighbors' apartments.

Its humid here. Humidity amplifies the temperature. We have people from Colorado visit here (Colorado is dry). They say, "40 degrees feels a lot colder here than in Colorado." That's because of the humidity. It may only get to the 40s down here (up here from Australia). But with the high humidity it feels a lot colder.
