Midsommar, from the same dude that made Hereditary is getting good buzz too. Just came out in theaters a few days ago. In the US anyway.

Is there any possible we can get a well rounded discussion centered on:
Rob Zombies, H1, H2, HOTC and TDR were in fact masterpieces?

Top 3 of all time would be The Hitcher(86), Wolf Creek(05) and The Fly(86) but youve probably seen them Other 10's that arent considered total horrors by IMDb, Aliens, The Silence of the Lambs, M(31) and Jaws wolf creek is highly underrated and love the fact it's based on 'true events' 8/10 beers from this guy I found Wolf Creek 2 to be more entertaining than the first one. It really ups the ante in terms of gore and action. One thing I just couldn't abide by with the first one is the stupid decision to not make sure the bad guy was dead by the one woman.

The Descent. Even more scary if your claustrophobic like me. tremendous movie 8/10 beers ever see the 2nd one where the Chinese chick comes back? I mean - how did she survive #1? 2nd one was awful. Wasn't directed by whatshisname. The Descent is my second favorite movie of the millennium (the first being Wall-E)

The Descent is my second favorite movie of the millennium (the first being Wall-E) As someone who is slightly claustrophobic, the Descent was terrifying. There's one scene in particular where the characters have to kinda shimmy through a very narrow tunnel to get from one chamber to another and the main character gets momentarily stuck....ugh. Just thinking about it gives me the willies. Very effectively done.

That movie has some script issues, but some of the stuff is really well directed and totally visceral. I like the creature stuff a lot, but I think it could have worked just as well, if not better, without any of monsters. It's unsettling enough just as a horror movie about claustrophobia.

The Mist. I love this movie. I don't know how I feel about that movie. It's not bad but I also didn't love it. For whatever reason I can't explain I laughed at the ending to it. Maybe it was just so fucked up that the only thing I could do was laugh? I will say there are few horror film characters that I've rooted for dying more so than that bitch with the bible.

Not sure if I've seen that movie or not but I'm seen a couple where people are down in caves and such and they all run together. If there is a scene like that with a narrow tunnel or something I'll turn my head and not watch. It fucks me up just thinking about it. I have the same issue with being held down or not being able to move. That all goes with my fear of spiders and of heights. I get freaked out playing video games like Uncharted or Assassins Creed and I'm having to climb on high ledges or something it's that bad.

Watched the Pet Semetary remake last night. It was very meh. Had a couple jumps scares in it but nothing else. Jump scares are weak if that's all a movie has.

Jump scares are the lone tool in a mediocre filmmaker’s arsenal. They can be effectively done, but when that’s your only trick, chances are you’re doing it wrong.
