Watched the Pet Semetary remake last night. It was very meh. Had a couple jumps scares in it but nothing else. Jump scares are weak if that's all a movie has. Jump scares are the lone tool in a mediocre filmmaker’s arsenal. They can be effectively done, but when that’s your only trick, chances are you’re doing it wrong. Yup. The best ones are imo the ones where they slow build the tension. Where they leave you just waiting for it but at the same time you're experiencing what the character is experiencing. A good recent one was in The Conjuring 2 when Elizabeth Warren is following the Nuns shadow on the wall and into the room where it eventually pops out of the picture. Was freaky as hell, was done really well because for me I felt the tension and scare as one. When you just have a "BOOM BOO I HAVE A KNIFE!" thing it feels completely empty. Pet Semetary had 2 jump scares to it and that was it. I won't say it was bad per say but it was just very meh and wasn't really worth watching. They also seemed to shove all the "horror" aspects of the movie into the final 30 minutes so none of it really felt earned.

I'm the same way. Not sure if I've seen that movie or not but I'm seen a couple where people are down in caves and such and they all run together. If there is a scene like that with a narrow tunnel or something I'll turn my head and not watch. It fucks me up just thinking about it. I have the same issue with being held down or not being able to move. That all goes with my fear of spiders and of heights. I get freaked out playing video games like Uncharted or Assassins Creed and I'm having to climb on high ledges or something it's that bad. Yeah, definitely don’t watch The Descent. Or Buried. Buried as in with Ryan Reynolds? I saw that movie no problem. Was a pretty decent film. You'd think that would trigger my claustrophobia but for some reason it didn't.

The Mist. I love this movie. I don't know how I feel about that movie. It's not bad but I also didn't love it. For whatever reason I can't explain I laughed at the ending to it. Maybe it was just so fucked up that the only thing I could do was laugh? I will say there are few horror film characters that I've rooted for dying more so than that bitch with the bible. Steven King said the ending of the movie was actually better than the one he wrote and he wishes he had written that ending.

Few movies have wasted a great atmosphere of dread like The Shining did. The scenery chewing is cringe often and the butt ugly annoying shelley duvall is horribly miscast and fails to raise even an iota of sympathy. I would have loved to see Jack bash her brains in bash em right the fuck in.

The Shining is one of the few horror movies out there that has a very high re-watch value - i.e. you can watch them over and over again and never get tired of them (at least for me). Just off the top of my head - the horrors I can watch over and over and never get tired of them: JAWS The Shining Night of the Living Dead . . . and The Blair Witch Project

Tucker and Dale cos Evil Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon I spit on Your Grave (remake) Dog Soldiers Near Dark I Spit On Your Grave remake was fantastic. Tough watch though as I hate 'torture' movies if you want to call it that - can give it a watch because she got her revenge in the end just like the Last House on the Left remake Good call on TDR - never gets the love it deserves. Rarely does a movie out there have me rooting for the 'bad guys' like when Sheriff Wydall had Baby, Otis, Captain Spaulding tied up....and Tiny came to the rescue

Feel the same - felt I turned on Wydall a bit when he cut Baby lose to go after her on a chase - one of those moments in the theater when the whole theater clapped and cheered when he was on top of her and Tiny came out of nowhere to rescue her - a second later your left asking yourself - wait - just why am I applauding 'the bad guys'?

Leslie Vernon is one that a lot of people seem to be unaware of. I know sequels often disappoint but Tucker and Dale were such likable guys in such a fun movie I would love to see them again.

The original and the remake are both favorites of mine. The remake has some fantastic makeup effects that look better than some of what The Walking Dead regularly churns out. I have to assume you mean the Tom Savini directed remake from 1990? It's been remade like 300 times, so I had to clarify... But that seems to be the only one anyone ever like at all.

Yup, the 1990 one. It's true, there are so many remakes it's tough to keep track but that one has always held a special place in my heart.

The Hills Have Eyes Remake It's sensational folks. 8/10 beers ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/s8tffwvq1/cheers.gif) Story of a 'worm' turned 'hero' on a mission to rescue his stolen baby and try to protect his final two siblings. Another 'stand up and cheer' moment in the theater when Doug appears down and out for the count - and the german shepherd pet 'Beauty' comes to the rescue ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/s8tffwvq1/cheers.gif)
