Itβs apparently pretty damn expensive from what Iβve heard. That probably played a part in it.

George could not damage Star Wars, Disney did
Disney's moves with the franchise reeks of corporate focus groups. They only understood what was superficial about Star Wars. They took the heart out of the series. It's irreversible now...

There are a heck of a lot of Videos on YOUTUBE that say that your wrong! Do they? Do you have any videos that weren't filmed opening weekend? These videos have people in the videos stating it was opening day/night/weekend (of course a park will get activity as people are curious to review it first), or there's signs explicitly stating the date as so, or there's opening celebrations going on clearly showing that the park just opened. Also, many of the people dressed up in costumes in the background are actual employees of the park - Disney doesn't allow masked costumes or clothing that isn't "clearly character oriented" (whatever that means).

The crowds are not on the level of when Space Mountain first opened. And that's what Disney was anticipating. Even in the very first video the guy narrating admits that there was a "actually fairly short line" about 55 seconds into the video. And as you pointed out, it's opening day/night. Reportedly the crowds have been even less since then.

In this thread: Star Wars "fans" doing their thing. What? We're not fans because we don't accept accept everything Disney brands "STAR WARS" without question? I've seen this elitism surrounding those who loved Episode 8/Solo for awhile now...look, you loving those movies doesn't make you anymore of a Star Wars fan than anyone else. Nor do you define what a fan is. I've been a fan since Episode 4. George Lucas hooked me with his imaginative and creative storytelling. What Disney is doing isn't either of those things, in my opinion. They've not added to the franchise - they've only taken away from it. All they can do is retread the same storylines, kill off characters, alienate the fanbase, and pat themselves on the back for their "brilliance". They're instigators. Star Wars fans have a right to voice their dissatisfaction with Disney's direction with the characters/stories they supported for 40 years. Like any other product, there's nothing wrong with reviewing the product as much as people want (or for as long as people want to). It doesn't make them any less of a fan. These "No one hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans!" statements are as inane as the claims of "Star Wars fans are sexists, racists, etc." that Disney (and their supporters) tried to spin about the fans. None of that is true. I've gone to the conventions through the years and there was a lot of love among the fan base. Leia and Lando are two of the greatest Star Wars to boot and these fans love them - to throw around that crap that claims otherwise is obnoxious/untruthful, so just stop with that. Stop regurgitating it. If you want to express your love for the new movies, that's fine. I don't think of you less of a fan for it, but don't try to belittle others for not agreeing with you one iota. You're no more a "true fan" than anyone else.

You people literally complain about EVERYTHING, have driven at least two people from the movies off of social media, openly hope for failure, etc. I'm glad George sold Lucasfilm to be rid of the "fans", I'm glad your childhoods were ruined by the prequels (which you people now pretend to like) and by the sequels. I want nothing good for you in life.
