Maybe she hasn’t paid attention to male sports but male athletes get criticized all the time for celebrations.

Personally I don’t think it’s that big of a deal, but it is a (very light) mocking of the opponents, so I understand the criticism. And I am sure that if it were a German man doing the same thing in a semi-final win against England the criticism would have been much harsher, so don’t give me that “just because I am a girl” crap, Alex!

Does anybody actually give a shit about this 🤷♀️ Probably like 5 people in the internet. That’s all it takes to get a “controversy” going these days.

I give a damn about her "mocking", but this whining about double standards is pathetic. Either she is ok with what she did (it was meant funny or whatever) or she should apologize if she thinks it was not such a great idea, but to go this #metoo-route...disgusting. And I used to like her...

i'm not a soccer fan; however found the game (match?) vs. England thrilling.
I loved the antics.
was on the edge of my seat with the penalty shot.
and believe these women should absolutely be paid just as much (if not more) than the men being they are 'Elite' and our Mens team has blown for years and are never relevant
game/match (whatever) was great theater and it was nice to see so much pageantry and emotion in the stands
great theater and tremendous drama
as a sports fan - I want to be entertained - and these ladies are doing it

I don't mind most celebrations. I'd probably draw the line at the Nazi salute and other similarly political actions, but pissing off opposition fans doesn't bother me. North Melbourne in the AFL would do it all the time in the late 90s and they were one of my favourite teams to watch and root against. The Adam Goodes wardance was another one that I thought was awesome but triggered some snowflakes.

I really don't see how this became a story at all. She scored a goal and did the tea sipping Kermit meme. Are people seriously taking this as offensive? Is there something here that I don't get? She was taunting, so what? It's not like she dropping her pants and mooning people or telling anyone to "suck it". I'm not understanding the outrage people are having over it. I can understand if you're saying it was "classless" I guess but to be offended by it? That seems like you're just wanting to be offended.
I did see somebody trying to turn it saying that she was mocking smoking a blunt. Pierce Morgan I wanna say is his name? Not a lot of people seem to like him. No idea who he is honestly. However I've never seen anyone smoke a blunt with their pinky up.

This Brit came over here years ago with this epic iconic entrance. In one of the greatest venues - Madison Square Garden - on the biggest stage - in the world. And I loved it. I ate it up Get em Naz Us boxing fans miss the likes of you and Hector Macho Camacho - true showman!

Just a need to fill sports pages. No big deal. Plays into the belief that Americans are arrogant and show a lack of class and are bad winners that's all. I doubt there is a single "neutral" who wants them to win due to that perception but I doubt they care.

Does anyone have a shitfit over the thumb sucking gesture I see all the time in the men's game?
I do think the USWNT has been arrogant. But this one, not so much. And can you blame them for being arrogant?

I thought it was harmless teasing and, let’s face it, you guys do drink a lot of tea. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_tea_consumption_per_capita

I think one of the reasons she (and the USA in general) was criticised was the women's game had managed to resist the worst aspects of the men's game. But they were all in play at points during this world cup.
Personally, I find the pre-planned celebration routines embarrassing. Give me this kind of attitude any day:
