I say yes. On top of having bland characters and a confusing plot line that makes no sense (both problems The Phantom Menace had) it also has a piss poor love story that might actually be worse than Twilight

The story is as bad but the action is superior, so got to give it to Clones.

Yes. As cheesy as Jar Jar was, Clones delivered pretty much nothing except Yoda fighting.

Anyway. They're both great films, as is the third entry in the prequel trilogy, if you're willing to take a step back.

Attack of the Clones is the worst Star Wars movie easily. I do not care what anyone else says. It has the worst dialogue out of all of them. The sand line alone makes it the worst. Also, The Phantom Menace was not great, but the pod race scene and the Darth Maul fight scene were both pretty great, honestly. There is nothing redeemable about Attack of the Clones. It was cheesy in every way.

I think it is. At least, Phantom Menace had Darth Maul and great lightsaber battles. Attack of the Clones has nothing like that.

AOTC was better because...
It had no Jar Jar
It had unintentional laughs (the dialogue, Yoda's laughable Sonic The Hedeghog fight sequence etc)
Expectations were lower
Saying that, it is still a 2/10 film

I would say it has a better story than Phantom Menace but the romance subplot drags it down. Watching it always just seemed more fun to me. Granted that was fifteen years ago.

I must have blanked it out because I don't remeber much about the romance beyond the one piece of dialogue.
It's an odd thing to focus hate on for me.
The romance gets far worse in the third one and yet it's redeemed by other parts of that horrible movie as well.
The trilogy overall was done in by the need to make Anakin the focus.
Lucas wrote Obiwan wonderfully in spite of the others, so that is where the focus should have stayed...With his struggle as a Jedi while watching his best friend be corrupted.

No, it's an original and very imaginative space opera exercise, sporting some impressive world building, designs and ideas (key ingredients Hollywood films including some of the more recent SW episodes were sourly lacking).
We see the Empire slowly evolving out of the Republic like a cancer (as reflected in the ship designs and costumes too) - the imbalance of the Force incarnate. Palpatines plot thickens, and gullible Jar Jar characters vote him even more power. We get a detective story in which two sleeping armies are discovered, and a lot of film noir feel - and if you have ever been with women, even the cheesy romance will become more bearable. And there is a ton of imaginative action. All very enjoyable and made with love and creative integrity, if you are into that kind of genre. |

Yes, AOTC is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. TPM isn't that bad....
