Entertaining, but not much more than that. I'ld give it a 7.

I think it was absurd that Howard didn't receive a nomination for direction - when much of the f'n film was produced in zero gravity on the vomit comet plane.
I prefer watching this to Forrest Gump much ever again. The 2 seem to embrace nostalgia... yet the space program holds more traction for me than Bubba Gump tales.

I watched it with someone who is really REALLY into the space program and knows all about the story and the astronauts and the technical details of the whole mission and mess. He thought that it was wonderful and would give it a 10 no doubt.
I am not as versed in the subject and while I thought that it was very well done and the acting, setting etc were fine, it was a bit unclear as to just who was who and what was happening. Too much assuming that the viewer already knew the whole story (as far as I was concerned).
I did like seeing little brother Clint Howard NOT being a total creepazoid for once and spotting Dad Rance was fun.

9/10 (Thanks to whomever for reopening the poll.)
I remember this was a popular film to show in history class. Every year since 1995, a different teacher in another grade would play it.
I think it's fantastic. Seems like it may be historically accurate.

I think it's fantastic. Seems like it may be historically accurate. there have been a bunch of documentaries on these guys, they say its only accurate in parts, big inaccuracy is the idea that ground control had to figure out a plan to rescue them after the capsule blew up, dragged in gary sinise to run tests, etc., the reality was that they already 1000 plans for everything that could go wrong, so when they figured out they lost all the oxygen they knew right away what they were going to do

It's a riveting true story. I can't begin to imagine what it was like for the U.S. (and the world) to watch a story unfolding about men in trouble far away from Earth. Far, far worse for the families, of course.
The problem solving and finding ways to accomplish things in the middle of all that - it's truly amazing.
10/10
