The unfortunate Sven Bender pots a header past his own keeper on '35 for 0-2 Monaco.

Dortmund 8/15 Monaco 5 Draw 15/4
2-0 I did think 5/1 were generous odds, very, very rare I see good value, but I didn't want to influence anyone to lose their rent.. or house. Indeed, Stan. Odds for the Monaco win are a very reasonable 1/2 as I type, with B365.

Tim Hill's half time report : "Monaco have been excellent, and with a quarter of the tie gone, they’re in the driving seat. Two bits of luck on the goals, perhaps – a hint of offside and an unstoppable OG – but they’ve been the much classier side, and it could have been 3-0 had Fabinho not pushed his penalty wide of the post. Shinji Kagawa missed a great chance for Dortmund at 0-1, but the home side haven’t shown nearly enough, and their defending has been sub-par for a Champions League quarter-final. Monaco are cruising."
HT book : Dortmund 7 Monaco 2/5 Draw 10/3

Surprised Elton John is lending his music for a Samsung ad. Has he ever done that before?
Thought he'd be a bit more protective over his music.

A nicely built up attack by Dortmund results in Dembele feeding it home close range on '56 and it's most certainly game on.

Dembele ?
Not another one. They're everywhere. The Spuds have one. We've got one (Celtic) and Dortmund have one.
Knock 3 times if your team has a Dembele Twice on the pipes if the answer is no Oh my Dembeleness One on his head means that he's gonna score (again)

Well, Piszczek tried to square it in his own half but didn't bargain on Mbeppé pouncing and intercepting it and going on to fire past Burki for 1-3 on '79.

But wait, Sahin crosses in a ball and Kagawa executes a fine pot. It's 2-3 with four minutes of the 90 remaining.

Postamble by Tim Hill : "That’s it! What a game. Well, we said there’d be goals, and there were. Five of them, and although Monaco’s 3-2 victory means they go into the second leg as clear favourites, Shinji Kagawa’s late goal has given Dortmund some hope. Dortmund were rotten in the first half, and Monaco fully deserved their 2-0 lead, but Thomas Tuchel’s side came roaring back after half-time to really make a game of it. Dortmund played really well in the second 45, and Tuchel might well be OK with 2-3, considering how poor they were before the break. Kylian Mbappé, however, was the star on the night, and he becomes the youngest player in Champions League history to score two goals in the knockout stage. Monaco are in the box seat, but it isn’t quite finished. It should be interesting to see what Tuchel has to say post-match about the decision to play the game so soon after the postponement."
*Footnote : Buggeration! That Martin Keown crops up more often than a Dalston organic pop-up cafe. Thought I'd left him behind for the week on MOTD, MOTD2, Football bastard Focus and every other BBC football show. How much money does an ex-footballer need? He can be quite insightful, but does he need to be on every channel going?

Given the news today I imagine Dortmund are just happy to be alive.

Watched the second half - pretty decent match.
Monaco's first goal was offside.

It seems Dortmund were informed by text message by UEFA of the hastily rearranged tie with Monaco. Charming.
<<The hosts looked understandably distracted during the first-leg tie – eventually losing 3-2 – and Thomas Tuchel claims his side were told they had to play via a text message from Uefa. “We were informed by text message that Uefa was making this decision,” Tuchel said. “We would have liked more time to take stock. This gives you the feeling of impotence, that we have to keep functioning and nothing else matters. “A decision made in Switzerland that concerns us directly. We will not forget it. It is a very bad feeling. A few minutes after this attack the only question that was asked was: ‘Are you ready to play?’ >>Some Dortmund fans' message to UEFA (pic)
