A few years ago I would have said De Niro has the slight edge due to acting range but he’s gone way down in my estimation last few years due to all that shit talking virtue signalling over Trump. Then I just had a quick look through his filmography and noticed he hasn’t produced any decent work since “Casino” all the way back in 95.
Pacino all the way.

De Niro for sure. Pacino has never been anything but a pretty boy for the gay boys to like in the worst movies ever made. Pacino has never been in anything I could rate over 6/10, and that's when I'm feeling generous and give him a nod for Insomnia.
Meanwhile, de Niro has also appeared in some of the worst movies ever, but he shows a great range, as he proved in Brazil and Once Upon a Time in America.

De Niro lost his edge when he started taking any role to fund his TriBeca businesses. Before that he had the edge and was the best, Pacino has picked better roles over the years. Also Michael Corleone is, for me, the greatest performance on screen of all time. (G1 and G2). Liking or not liking because of a person's political leanings though is pretty idiotic.

I don't judge golfers by their ability to install central heating either. Seems more like whining because you disagree with him politically.

De Niro was not only being an arse with all that Trump business but I feel has also tarnished his legacy somewhat with the kind of crap he’s been churning out for last couple of decades.

Yeah, I am with Pacino to as he's clearly ahead of De Niro in my book in terms of volume of movies worth mentioning. sure, I don't care for all of De Niro's aggressiveness towards Trump, but just my honest opinion on what movies are worth mentioning (i.e. movies I score a 7/10 or higher) from each actor for me, it boils down to the following...
Al Pacino...
1)S1m0ne (2002) - 8/10 2)The Godfather Part III (1990) - 7.5-8/10 -)The Devil's Advocate (1997) 4)Scarface (1983) - 7/10 -)Carlito's Way (1993) -)The Godfather Part II (1974) -)The Godfather (1972) 8)Donnie Brasco (1997) - 6.5-7/10
p.s. I think there is a good chance 'Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood (2019)' will be added to the list once I see it. ill have to see how The Irishman turns out to.
Robert De Niro...
1)Casino (1995) - 7.5-8/10 2)Machete (2010) - 7/10 -)The Godfather Part II (1974) 4)A Bronx Tale (1993) - 6.5-7/10
p.s. Ill have to see how The Irishman turns out.
NOTE: I used to think more were worthy of my favorite movies from each actor in the past but they have since fallen below a 7/10.
p.s. one last thing... only 152 movies out of the 2,250+ total movies I have seen managed to get a 7/10 or higher. so I am not a person who routinely hands out high scores. I don't restrict ratings on movies either as I simply rate them based on how much I enjoy watching them and the further they get away from that the lower the rating. I still mildly like movies I score a 6/10 (a mild Thumbs Up) as 5/10's and lower are Thumbs Down for me as I ultimately judge movies based on whether I want to re-watch them or not as movies I won't re-watch cannot score above a 5/10 and movies I will re-watch cannot score below a 6/10.

My favorite movie with Robert De Niro is The Mission, but then I don't see a lot of Robert De Niro movies.
