CBS News reports that if The Republican President’s China tariffs go into effect, a resulting drop in paper availability may trickle down to affect the millions of Bibles that published in China every year.

When you look at the Bible, I mean just look at it objectively, as though you never heard of it before, nor heard anyone preach about it, I don't see how you could enjoy it.
It's the most depressing book ever written. It's a miracle that it survived more than a generation. Begins with a guy who listens to a girl who listens to a smart critter, so she thinks, and they get whomped for it. Then a guy who is supposedly chosen by God doesn't get to have a kid till he's a billion years old. Then a guy gets cheated out of everything by his twin brother, who is rewarded for it. Another guy praises God, never blames him, loses his family, his property, all his loved ones murdered, and even after he's restored to wealth, he still apparently has itchy boils all over his body.
The hero gets whomped and whipped and crucified, and that's no fun.
It just goes on from there.
If no one tells a person the mysteries of what is printed, and the big story, how can a person want to even keep such a depressing book?
It goes against the grain. It goes against everything a human desires, so there must be divine intervention, good or evil, which has kept it in circulation for so long. If it survives in China, got to figure more supernatural intervention.

Too bad e-book readers and smartphones are also made in China. So Bibles will also become scarce as e-books, if the USA are stupid enough to restrict imports from China.
Who voted that guy into office? Oh yeah. Bible readers.

Obama, Clinton, and LBJ all got votes from Bible readers as well as non-Bible readers.

Yeah, but did these predecessors implement politics that restricted trade with China, and risk to make Bibles scarce?

However, I find it very difficult to believe that the scarcity of Bibles in China is a passionate issue with atheists, except to use it like the OP is using it here.

It's not a passionate issue with me. I just find it amusing that Bible thumpers, by voting Trump, are sawing the branch they are sitting on, so to speak.

Yes, I can see where that would provide you with some good yucks. Incidentally, there's quite a bit about Trump that I'm not satisfied with.

By the way, totally unrelated, but have you seen the movie Epoch? That's where that Torus video clip was in that other thread came from.

Those new Bibles would go to...some shelf right along side the dozen or so other Bibles gathering dust there...unread, unappreciated, unheeded. But maybe they're hoping someone'll start making Bibles in the USA. Those would be the only kinds of Bibles these people would want to read...not those cheap fake Chinese made ones.

No, but I think I heard about it when it was new. I think I recognized David Keith from the clip you posted. Looks like an interesting film.

They will say anything in a attempt to make Trump look bad. the left don't even really care about bibles anyways as it's their party who's pretty much getting anti-Christian nowadays as they go further left. p.s. I realize this does not apply to everyone on the left (like the average person) but those who are in power on the left it mostly applies to as they are the godless type. Toasted CheeseSays the person who's pretty much against God. it's unwise to rebel against truth as all it brings is ones destruction in the long term. it's the left who's the scourge to society(especially lately), especially with their support of the evil act of abortion which is legalized murder basically and their support of other immoral things. because the further they are into sin the more they begin to hate what's good, since they begin to love their sin, and disorder takes over.
