So, let's go for another classic SF series. Battlestar Galactica, the 2004 edition. I'm going for a 7 for the series as a whole. It all started out brilliant imo, those first episodes were gorgeous. 'So say we all' was a powerful mantra. And seasons 1 and 2 stayed strong, even if there were some episodes that were kind of weak. But then season 3 came along and it all seemed to fall apart imo.
Starting from the second half of season 3 to almost the end of season 4, it was pretty bad most of the time, with only a decent episode now and then. The series ended predictably, although it wasn't all bad. At least they decided to end it, not let it drag on for a couple more seasons.
Still, based on those first two seasons, I'm sticking with a 7.
Any thoughts?

4/10. I did not care for it. The cast didn't do it for me and that dark and depressing style is not my thing. I'm not saying I need a show to be all happy, but I liked the Star trek DS9 formula. A dark theme but didn't make you want to slit your wrists and had light hearted moments also

The embarrassingly stupid finale that I predicted in Season 1 makes it a 6 at best and that's being charitable.

It was shyte.
I gave it a 2 for special effects.
Those cylons were typical 'Hollywood Baddies'. They couldn't shoot for sh_t.

I gave it an 8 because I loved the first few seasons, but if I were to rate it based on the final season, and, especially the ending, I would give it a 6.

7
A 9 if it had not been for one of the worst endings ever.
For me it ends with the "Planet of the Apes"-moment.

The SF version of the series 24, which means it was hugely entertaining to watch the first time but not so much the second time around once the surprises were revealed. Certainly better than the original. 8/10

You predicted in Season 1 that Cylons and Humans would team up, arrive together at Earth 150,000 years in the past, and then a half-Human and half-Cylon child would become the mother a half-Human and half-Cylon race ( us ) ?

I gave it an 8 for production value but I'm probably being generous. The longer it went on, the more annoying it became.

I said it would end with the BG crew discovering a planet similar to Kobol but either uninhabited or inhabited with very primitive creatures and either way the planet would be (SURPRISE) ancient Earth. In all fairness though I can understand why most people didn't see it coming. It was only the plot of numerous Twilight Zones after all. I did miss the call on the BG guys raping cavewomen though as well as that "scary" and "thought provoking" robot montage at the end. That was some sobering food for thought, huh?

I gave it an 8 for production value but I'm probably being generous. The longer it went on, the more annoying it became. You are right. After revisiting this series, it starts out with such promise but by the end it seemed like the only ideas they had were solely based on lowering production costs. The series started with a bang and ended with an annoying whimper. I downgraded it to a 7.

7/10 should have kept it a mini-series

I rated it 8 which is probably generous because of the god awful ending.

Loved it until that baffling bad ending. I think it was the last 2 episodes where it just fell off the abyss.

Great show, if somewhat flawed.
It ultimately destroyed itself with one moment. "And they have a plan."
I'm told Ron Moore didn't write that, some other guy did. And that one phrase made it seem as if the show was being written to a long term plan. It made it seem as if Moore had a plan in mind for the series, that each thing that happened on the show was part of some grand design that would gradually become clear.
Only... he didn't. He was just making it up as he went along.
Sadly, like most efforts to invent a long-running continuity on the fly (I'm looking at you, X-Files!) this meant that the show wound up increasingly complicated, confused, contradictory, and meandering. Alas, the last season or so is increasingly unwatchable.
This of course culminated in the one-off special "The Plan", which revealed that the titular "Plan" was a combination of a handful of Cylons in the fleet trying whatever they could think of on any given day, and doing wacky stuff like suicide bombings pretty much entirely at random. Thus making the colonials (and audience) look hilariously foolish for ever thinking that there was a grand plan at all.
Still, it did have some great stuff in it.
