Jack and Victor (Still Game) - Celtic 🤔 Bear with me here... Craiglang is in Glesca. It is never openly said the gang support Celtic. However, Jack and Victor talk about going to the football in a few episodes... So they are football fans. There are several funerals and weddings throughout the 9 series. Whenever there is a wedding or funeral, it always involves a Catholic priest, not a Protestant vicar. People in the community also have open coffins. Therefore, we can assume Craiglang is predominantly a Catholic community. Hence, as Jack and Victor are football fans frae Glesca, we can assume they most likely support Celtic. No assumptions please.

Think you will find that is a well evidenced hypothesis. They said in one episode (s3e1) that their stadium was Firhill, the home of Partick Thistle.

Rab C Nesbitt and Jamesie Cotter.
The writers keep neutral, mostly.
But, 'hun' is used as a term of abuse by Jamesie in a couple of episodes, so most likely Celtic.

I don't watch the show myself - I hate Scottish people! Jack and Victor are boasting to a cleaner in a big posh Canadian sport stadium that they have the real thing back home, Firhill... They are winding the guy up. They never say they go to Firhill. It is more implied Firhill is a bit of a dump?

One of the most infuriating parts of that show was when Tony paused a live NFL game just so his buddy could tell some dumb story. I’m no Steelers fan but I was fuming at this obvious faux pas. Yikes. I wonder if they didn't know or thought their fans wouldn't know, but that is a really bad era error.

Takes place in the 70s or some shit? No, the episode took place in the modern day. I wasn’t talking about a time error, I’m talking about the very idea of someone pausing a live game just so they could have their buddy tell a story. I mean, just imagine it, you’re sitting at home with a few friends, watching a live NFL game, and someone just decides to reach over and pause it before saying “hey, tell him about that time when...” I don’t know about you, but those would no longer be friends of mine.

I see. That's from This is Us, right? Can't say I've ever really seen it, so.i can't make a judgment on whether or not that's in character, but no I'd never do that. I've known people who say they record games and start them 30 to 45 mins late so they can skip commercials though. Some people are hard to figure out with this shit.

Sure, plenty of people record the games so they can skip commercials, but we’re talking about forcing the group to watch the game a few minutes behind for no other reason than a dumb anecdote which just couldn’t wait until the commercials started. Also, another character complained about this very thing causing Toby (which I did originally write but my phone autocorrected it to Tony) to switch it back to live. It then turned out they’d missed a touchdown because of the whole incident. I don’t know, that ruins the whole thing for me.

I'd do that. Paused Djokovic-Federer, went to the store, came back and unpaused it. Only caught up a bit FF-ing through ads and changeovers.

You're a genius in hindsight since that match was what, 5 and 1/2 hours long?

I can’t be bothered to explain the context but that’s not the same. For one, you were alone. It’s possible I’m the only one to be that annoyed by this particular scenario.

Joey Quinn (a worse detective than Chief Wiggum) once offered Dexter Morgan tickets to a Miami Dolphins game. Dexter was not impressed. You'd think a Dolphins game would be the kind of thing a serial killer would enjoy. Quinn actually looks kind of like Chandler Bing. Funnily enough, both actors (he and Matthew Perry) both went through rapid weight changes throughout their respective series.
