Thanks for the article link, mszanadu. I quite like their music too. What would you say is your favourite song of theirs? For me, I think it'd probably have to be 'Roam'. Also, I always enjoyed the R.E.M. song 'Shiny Happy People' (which Kate Pierson provided guest vocals on).

These are definitely 2 really fun yet memorable songs
here Chalice_Of_Evil ( great choices too !! ) .
As for my favorites here well for me that's not an easy question
only because I have so many faves and I would have to go through each album to pick out my favorites from each one - which I will try to do now .
I love this whole album but my top favorites from this awesome album is -
( another excellent album indeed and I highly recommend this one too !! ) .
The very first album of theirs titled - The B-52's is a real treat
Their third album is just too much fun - Whammy!
Their sixth album is just a true delight too - Good Stuff
Lastly for me this album has been a treasured favorite since I first purchased it on cassette tape - Mesopotamia
As for their eighth and final album - FUNPLEX
Enjoy all these selections Chalice_Of_Evil and thanks so much for your interest on my subject post here too .

That's an awesome and colourful article. I love The Guardian and I love the B-52s. I actually posted here about Lou Christie last week and mentioned his work with The Tammys - their single 'Egyptian Shumba' is said to have been a massive influence on the B-52s unique sound. Thank you so much.

You're most welcome petrolino and it's so wonderful to see
another fan of The B-52's here also .
My hubby also enjoys reading The Guardian regularly
and he was the one who passed this article on to me here .
I surprisingly never heard of this band " The Tammys "
but will have to check their Wikipedia Profile page and
listen to the song you recommended here on YouTube also .
That's really cool how one certain band can impress another band
with a certain sound - it's so wonderfully inspirational indeed !!
Thanks so much for your story , recommendations , and your reply here too .

Oh yeh, also check out their song 'Guitars & Bongos' for the B-52s influence. I guess the B-52s sprung up from Athens, Georgia, where artists like REM, 10000 Maniacs and Kristin Hersh would later hold down connections.
I hope your husband's not an underground commie, based upon his suspect British reading material he's been consuming; I arose from the city of Manchester long ago, home to The Guardian.

Thanks again I will definitely check out that song " Guitars & Bongos '' on YouTube .
In not sure if my facts are 100% correct on this but
years ago I read that both main band members from
The B-52's and R.E.M. all went to
Athens Georgia high school together
and were all friends too .
As for my hubby being a commie definitely NO - quite far from it he is just very smart and likes to read A LOT
to stay well informed with the world around him ( 28 years together and just another wonderful reason
I'm still together with him too ) .
That actually looks like an intriguing classic movie from this poster here
I'm surprised it hasn't turned up on my favorite cable TV channel TCM ( Turner Classic Movies ) .
So you're from Manchester England ? Cool ! Just like my favorite former band member from The Monkees - Davy Jones ( who is sadly missed but never forgotten ) .
Again thanks so much for all your awesome recommendations here too .

and thanks for your kind words of well being here too .
Also you take care and stay safe as well .
" The Iron Curtain " looks like another intriguing movie
to add to my list of movies I had never heard of or watched but will soon - thanks again ( these particular classic films also help us to stay sharp from the unknown & mysterious too ? ) .

Fortunately for me, I never had a husband, and if I had, I'm sure he'd be a communist. These were the days before conversion therapy was either affordable or available.

That's too much you're a riot here petrolino .
My hubby is not the " traditional marriage kind "
it's just the same man I have lived with since forever - aka 28 years together ( I don't really know what our category would be as a couple -
some would say " common law marriage " but I don't really know ? ) .
Perhaps some form of " modern marriage " - I say hey whatever works out well ( right ? ) .

I would like to dedicate this song to the two of you on this wet weekend, from the heart of Manchester, with the love of this great city (to paraphrase my main man Stevie Wobder), courtesy the Charlatans ...
