a YouTube video to see what it IS? Because I've switched over to what's called "lazy-loading" in order to solve some issues users were experiencing as well as to reduce the amount of network load on the user end, especially for pages with multiple videos. In a similar topic you've made in the past (I believe it was about showing videos in replies), I mentioned to you that the YouTube player is rather expensive to load. On pages with multiple videos, this can become an issue and the page will lag. It's not so bad if you have a fast connection but not everybody has a fast connection and it can take quite some time for all the videos to load in. In order to alleviate it, I'm using lazy-loading. This loads the thumbnail image and denotes it as a YouTube video instead of loading the video player itself. The player is only loaded when the user interacts (mouseover or tap) with the image. I'll explain further if you or anybody else has any more questions or complaints.

Or perhaps we should learn how to type the title before we include the video.

That thread was started before this became an issue though.

That thread was started before this became an issue though. So? That post was posted before you came into this thread. Timestamps are not your friend today.

Nah, it was how you said it. I was just playing along. It's all good, man. Nonetheless, it would be nice if the readers didn't have to mouseover to see the titles and the posters didn't have to "learn how to type the titles before they include the video." If it can be done, I'm sure Bartlesby will figure it out if he wants to.

My concern is that I have to use a YouTube API key to do it and I don't know how long it will be before it hits its quota. But at least I can see how long it would take. It's already in place. It should default to just the thumbnails if the quota runs out.

I'm having an issue with the videos not being visible if I mouse over it or click on it to play. I can hear audio but not see video. Oddly if I click reply I can see videos while creating a post.

poelzig Weird, everything works fine here as I am on Firefox v68.0 which is the newest. just off the top of my head... try clearing your browsers cache or force a reload from the internet instead of the browser cache as I know in Firefox you can force a reload of a website to download from the internet instead of the browser cache by holding SHIFT and clicking the RELOAD(the one that reloads the web page) icon.
also, if your still using Flash for video playback I suggest you dump it and switch to HTML5 on YouTube as it's just better and getting rid of Flash increases your computers security online.
p.s. but if your not using either Firefox or Chrome I suggest you do that as those are the two most used web browsers in general with Chrome being the dominate one although I prefer Firefox. but if your having a problem on Chrome, try Firefox. if your having your issue on Firefox, try Chrome. but lets say Firefox is messed up... one can uninstall it, remove the profile directory etc, then reinstall it and it should be in a clean state. hence, everything should work as intended.

I use chrome and I only seem to have the problem on this site over the last week or so and only on certain videos. It's quite perplexing.

AdminI never seen that before until I checked... Help > Troubleshooting Info > Refresh Firefox. but it appears your right given what I found online... so it appears the manual deletion of the profile like I was suggesting might not be necessary. I wonder when that 'refresh firefox' feature got into Firefox as I guess I am used to using the old ways. poelzigI see. I would be curious to see whether Firefox fixes your issue
