Here are some of my favorites from one of my favorite sports movies "For The Love of the Game". Jane Aubrey: Do you lose very much? Billy Chapel: I lose. I've lost 134 times. Jane Aubrey: You count them? Billy Chapel: We count everything. Vin Scully: After 19 years in the big leagues, 40 year old Billy Chapel has trudged to the mound for over 4000 innings. But tonight, he's pitching against time, he's pitching against the future, against age, against ending. Tonight, he will make the fateful walk to the loneliest spot in the world, the pitching mound at Yankee Stadium, to push the sun back into the sky and give us one more day of summer. Vin Scully: The cathedral that is Yankee Stadium belongs to a Chapel. Vin Scully saying those lines were just beautiful. Gives me chills just reading the lines and hearing his voice speak the words in my head. What I wanna know is why Vin Scully was calling a Yankees Tigers game Ozzie Smith was batting 9th for the Cardinals in Game 1 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium in The Scout. And Brendan Fraser was batting, eliminating the Yankees' ability to use the DH for the rest of the game. And he was never on the regular season or minor league roster but was on the WS roster! "I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time, I'd rather not spend the rest of this winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!" I wish I could love this post, the thumbs up is simply not sufficient. Thing was, I knew THIS group would know and love that movie, I think if we all met up to watch a movie together, I'd bet this would be the one we'd all agree on.
