This is the last recording made at Notre Dame before the tragic fire. It was played by the house organist, Olivier Latry.
Besides being historic for that reason, the music is quite good. Quality organ music depends on good interpretation and Latry is full of it. His version of the Toccatta and Fugue was very much informed by Leopold Stokowski's orchestral transcription of the work.
