How many of those actual subtitles? All of mine were. I imagine Redemption must have been used a bunch of times. Can't recall the others. Probably none! I was just having some fun trying to think what R-words were left...........and then the last two seemed the most relevant! There was a review for the last Jason Bourne movie that called it The Bourne Redundancy. Seemed apt.

Resurrection, Revelations, Rises, Rising, Rise of, Retribution, Revenge, Revenge of, the Revenge, Returns, the Return of, Reborn, Reloaded, Revolutions, Requiem The 'R' subtitle is about as overdone as it gets. Don't forget Redemption, Remembered, Renaissance. The most appropriate for me however would be Halloween: Repetition or........ Halloween: Rehashed. Pretty much what's been happening for over 30 years! Not quite. Unlike the Thorn trilogy and the awful current Star Wars sequel trilogy, this new Halloween trilogy seems to be mapped out with a plan and how it will eventually end. I can't predict whether the final product will be good or not but at least the creative department has a plan.

I found the last one excruciating and given that the next two are in the same hands, for me it doesn't bode well!

Well, by now you know I'm a grumpy old man when it comes to HALLOWEEN sequels Agent! I found the last one excruciating and given that the next two are in the same hands, for me it doesn't bode well! What about Halloween III Season of the Witch? I'm fond of Halloween III: Season of the Witch. I don't consider it the neglected cult classic that some do but neither do I hold it in contempt for "conning" us out of a Myers outing as expected by most. I think it bears still the telling mark of Carpenter's hand as producer along with Debra Hill and also has that gliding cinematography from Dean Cundey that we had seen in the first two. All this plus another excellent electronic Carpenter score, for me ironically make this feel more like a HALLOWEEN film despite the absence of Myers than any of the later movies, in all of which, he returned! Trouble is, 1982 is a long time ago and the series has done little since then to impress me.

They should've gone with Halloween II 3 and Halloween III 2. Really lean into the ridiculous timeline/sequel titles.

I am hoping they just bury the mask and not continue on with this confused series\spin offs of films. They are not scary anymore and the very original first 2 and H20 are the only ones worth mentioning in the MM kill fests as far as I'm concerned. H20? The WB style 90s one that spends a significant portion of the run time on LL Cool J wanting to write romance novels?

It got some of that creepy Myers tone back into it as well, even if the LL Cool parts were a bit corny and forced humor interjection. He was a nice character and that is what counts. Agreed. While H20 bore little of the tone, feel or mood of the first two, it plugged away at it's own thing and landed a couple of blows. It's the only Myers sequel since HALLOWEEN II that I haven't come away from afterwards feeling bemused and deflated!

I just can't agree. I liked that version of Laurie slightly better but I don't think LL Cool J's character was well done in any way and I hate the 90s tween TV movie of the week vibe. Nor Michael's look or much of anything else. It's firmly a weaker entry than 4 and the newest one from my perspective.

I hate the characters except for Ellie and Jamie. One of the gf's was a freakin' bimbo. They couldn't even film 4 in cinemascope either and that annoyed me as soon as it started when I first saw it. 5 to me is what should be blamed with the series going off the rails. It is where they introduced the man in black and thorn culture/subculture. 4 had some positives but the ending was horrible

Things hadn't gotten irreparably damaged yet. Curse is where the series really shit the bed. Resurrection is taking some of that shit and then smearing it all over the windows. Rob Zombie's remake is taking the leftover shit and then making little action figures out of it. Zombie's II is taking those little shit figurines and biting their heads off. 2019 Halloween is the cleanup crew *finally* arriving. They do their best to clean it up (and they mostly do) but you can still see spots in the corners of the room where the shit still lingers. I hope McBride and company brought a toothbrush to clean up all those little bits with these next two movies.

It's not perfect, but I don't think it necessarily, shit the bed again, as you put it. I think 6 is actually an improvement over 5. 5 just bore me and probably the least consistent one of the series (the Myers house being one of the most blantant examples). It had some nice kills, a improvement on the mask design since the first movie as well and it's got Paul Rudd. As stupid as the Thorn subplot is, at least by the end of the film, it was ultimately decided that Michael couldn't be controlled when he slaughtered all the doctors.

The new sequel will feature Tommy Doyle, but not played by Paul Rudd as they'd wanted, but rather Anthony Michael Hall.
