Much like your god Jesus & pope Francis. I admit we could do more. But we are speaking out against the genocide of innocent men women and children in Yemen enacted by British and US warmongers. CAFOD are on the ground... what are you doing? Sneering from a distance? You are an idiot as usual. I am talking about your vegan preaching dumb-ass. You follow a person who was meat eater. You laud a person who is a meat eater and you follow an organisation which authorised many mass murders. So you happen to be a complete and total hypocrite.

Our parish is switching to vegetable oil candles from beeswax. Our Mass will be free from animal cruelty (as it should be, Jesus told us he wants mercy, not sacrifice). What have you done to move forward and make a positive change?

Vegetarianism/Veganism is not the stance of Catholic Church, nor of Pope Francis and neither was of Jesus. I do not list what I have done for the world. Usually the biggest hypocrites do so online who want to feel better about themselves even if they are total hypocrite deep down.

Sweet.
Always loved the day Shark Week started - it's like waiting for a huge Boxing Match and they've got the undercard on right now - or a huge UFC fight and the prelims are on prior to the big show.
On Discovery right now - 'SharkCam Stakeout' - 'Featuring a visit to the Bahamas to investigate the private lives of bull and hammerhead sharks'.
Did you know Bulls can swim in fresh water folks? There was one caught all the way up in the Mississippi River towards Illinois. That's quite a distance folks.

Shark Week > Any football related week. why no love for football? on now: Air Jaws: The Hunted - 'An investigation to find out who killed five great whites, after they washed up dead on the beaches in South Africa'. It's Orcas folks - i.e. Killer Whales. Fascinating, eh?

Shark Week > Any football related week. why no love for football? Never got into it. Got to into baseball first (Canseso's 40-40 year, and Ricky's power/speed combo was a big influence). Within a few years got into hockey, and that took over, but lagged behind in basketball, until a few years later (always liked Jordan pre-teens, but he return and my growing affinity for the Stockton/Malone combo was a big influence). By that time I had a pretty grasp on those sports (or the big names in the NBA, anyway), but football was too over-hyped. All the over-coverage (I had to deal with the CFL for a couple months before the NFL season even started). I know the big name QB's and couple other players (Always liked Jerry Rice, always remember a highlight of him throwing a TD pass, always liked Dion Sanders since I watched a lot of Braves games on TBS back in the day.) Of course I know who Brady is. I kind of liked Steve McNair when he was big for a year or to, but a bullet from himself or his gf (was that ever solved?) ended that. I remember McNab on your Eagles, and I remember Michael Vick from Atlanta, to jail to Philly. I remember the Peyton vs. Brady talk. But I never got into the sport, don't know much about the box score or stats, things never lined up for it to work out. It mostly just became a big annoyance, the way it dominates (especially the US networks) sports talk shows. Even when I've asked questions on here, I rarely get any response, nothing to learn from, anyway. Maybe someday, but not likely.

You state the NFL is over hyped - which is debatable - it's pretty much become a 365/12 sport. I hear the same criticisms x1000 towards the NBA - that the coverage is just too much and over the top. I argue - if the NFL has become a 365/12 sport which is talked about all year - why not the NBA as well? Just like the NFL - the NBA has the draft, free agency period, training camp, exhibition (preseason). Same argument can also be made for MLB to an extent with the Winter Meetings, Pitchers and Catchers reporting in February following up by the ridiculously long exhibition season then the season which now extends in the first week of November at times. I guess I don't mind all the coverage as I'm a fan of all the above.

I'm doing some catch up. I really enjoyed the Expedition Unknown episode. Never Baja was underwater before.

I'm doing some catch up. I really enjoyed the Expedition Unknown episode. Never Baja was underwater before. I really like the direction they've gone by adding 'hosts' in - i.e. Rob Riggle for some of the shows. They did this last year with Shaq and Riggle too. This year Riggle and the hysterical guy from 'Workaholics' are hosting. May not be everybodies cup of tea - but some of the 'After Dark' live shows remind me a bit of 'The Talking Dead' with a studio audience. Kind of makes you feel like you're more part of the experience. I might have missed it but saw it advertised - special is (or was - I'm sure it will be played again this week) on Deep Blue being spotted again - this time off the coast of Hawaii feasting on a dead whale carcass. Natgeo did a special on it during 'Shark Fest' which was well done.

Watching an episode right now 'Ronda Rousey Uncaged' - 'Professional wrestler Ronda Rousey is trained by shark conservationist Paul de Gelder to face her fiercest opponent yet, the mako shark, in New Zealand'
Tom_Rocks where ya at? Rousey is in a wetsuit.

I always enjoy the Great White and Tiger Shark Episodes (maneaters) - but I greatly enjoy the Bullshark episodes too. Find it fascinating they can swim/survive in fresh water and it's always in the back of my head when fishing at the Delaware Bay / New Jersey inlets / back bays (brackish water) and even fishing at the Schuykill and Susquehanna Rivers. Monster Mako coming up at 11est - love stories about them too - not far off the coast of Cape May, New Jersey where I frequent at times.

Save up a few bucks, get yourself at least 10 free days, and go to South Africa to do the cage dive. Plan to go on at least 2 dives because you're not guaranteed to see any, and the weather forces you to be flexible. Take the strongest seasickness stuff you can find (unless you're a king crab fisherman, it will fuck you up). If you love sharks, then you owe this to yourself. There are other places you can go to swim with other types in the open water and other cage dives you can do, but nothing compares to seeing a fully grown great white up close and personal. Awesome is the only word to describe it. Magnificent and beautiful animals.

Watching Shark Week this week - it's amazing how many divers are ignoring the Shark Cage and swimming freely with the Sharks - Great Whites and Tigers - I would have thought this would have been unheard of years ago. Tiger is called the 'garbage can of the sea' - i.e. they'll eat anything. There's a shark out there called 'Deep Blue' which they're stating is arguably the biggest Great White ever caught on camera - 20 feet or bigger (that's like JAWS like - favorite movie - but I think Quint stated Jaws was 25 feet after Hooper stated it was a 20 footer) - the divers were swimming freely with it.

On Day 1, I didn't see any great whites, but saw a few cow sharks (about 8' - 10') and a MASSIVE pod of dolphins that followed us around all day. I don't know how many there were, hundreds at least, if not more. That day we went out to seal island which is about 8 miles off shore and it's where they film all of the great white breaching videos (or most of them anyway). This was towards the end of their summer so it wasn't "great white season" so no breaching activity this day. On Day 2, we went a few hours north, I forget the name of the beach and we anchored a much bigger boat with about 40 people on it no more than 1/4 mile off shore. The water was crazy rough. Of the 40 people, I'd say at least 30 were seasick pretty fast. I'm no hero, I get seasick fairly easily but I had been taking the military grade seasickness stuff that you can't even get here in the US so I was OK. Due to so many people getting sick, it means time in the cage was basically unlimited for those of us that were fine. All in, I'd say I spent a solid 2 hours in the water. We saw a handful of great whites, the biggest one being about 16'. At one point, it kinda bumped into the cage, which weighs about 2,000 lbs and to the shark, it was nothing more than a paper weight. The way the cage shook and the rush of water that it generated, man the power of these things is insane. You hear about it in these shows but nothing compares to that first hand experience. The craziest part is that because the water was so rough, it was very murky so you really didn't see the shark until it was right up on you. The 16' guy is basically the size of a small bus and yet it's not until he's within 10 feet of you that you first see it. That's why it's always bullshit when you hear these people speak so brazenly about trying to fight them off and whatnot. That thing has already bitten you before you know it's there. As for the free divers, I mean, good for those guys. I've seen nurse sharks in the wild while snorkeling in the Caribbean but they are 6' tops and generally are skittish around humans. If you are luring sharks in to free dive with them, you're de-sensitizing them to humans which means they'll keep getting closer to humans which can only result in 2 things - them biting the humans, or humans killing the sharks.

I really couldn't get into Sharks of the Badlands. I get selling sharks as this dangerous creature is the selling point of all this and they are but they don't like eating people.

I enjoyed the episode on Deep Blue. And I really liked the ending where they were showing how you can identify specific sharks and there's going to be more Deep Blues on that way! That's exciting.

I learned that sharks segregate between males and females watching The Sharks of Headstone Hell. I wonder why they do that?
