This is a hoot. YouTube has taken a stand and demonetized many currently produced History videos. Why, the website does not want to promote videos that feature war and violence. FFS, it's history and I don't see any videos saying "Boy that World War II, that was GREAT. We sure could use another!". I still think of YouTube as cat videos and Rebecca Black but there is a lot of good stuff out there. But YouTube, like everything else nowadays, seems to want to dumb down the world. Speaking of good history, check out timeghost.tv/They have a plethora of good stuff, now doing WWII in real time. Indy Neidell did WWI in real time and it was amazing.

If anyone misses those ‘90s history documentaries back before the History Channel became the Horseshit Channel, a YouTuber called Peter David has some great videos. And there’s a couple of other channels named Docspot and HistoryTube.

I think the last History channel show that I actually enjoyed was when they made the series about Decisive Battles of the Ancient World using the engine from the computer game Rome:Total War to stage the classic battles. I actually picked up the set on DVD when it was released years ago. It was actually pretty well done for the era.
Crazy that youtube is doing this with history videos. I believe there was one channel on youtube that for a time had the old Air Power series hosted by Walter Cronkite. That was an excellent show, a true contemporary both historically and artistically of Victory at Sea.

There's another one called Kings and Generals;something like that. They're shorter, between 5 and 15 minutes, but pretty good.

I recommend History Buffs too. Basically the guy reviews historical movies and gives the historical context about the period that the film is about focusing on what the movie got right and wrong.
Also HistoryMarche is doing a fantastic series on the Second Punic War.

It's awful what YouTube has been doing lately when it comes to historical videos, but -- like most things in the world today -- the reasons behind this aren't exactly black and white. Basically, it comes down to a perfect storm of three factors: 1. Ridiculous overreaction of YouTube to issues of "sensitivity" re: violent incidents/events in history. 2. Unwillingness of YouTube to spend the $$$ to have proper, case-by-case monitoring of user uploads/channels. 3. Alt-right/neo-Nazi & pro-Stalin scumbags flooding even good, well-researched history videos with revolting comments (trolling). These jerks also upload "fake" (misleading/propaganda) history videos (praising the Waffen-SS, for example, and denying WWII atrocities; the same is done by Soviet apologists). Many of the channels cited above are indeed first-class operations dedicated to illuminating real military history, using the best available facts. The Great War, World War 2 in Real-Time, Kings & Generals, Epic History... All topnotch outfits I can heartily recommend. Speaking of which... For some time now I have been "curating" military history YouTube playlists based on the following criteria: Truthfulness, objectivity, and audio/video quality. (These videos are best viewed on a TV-size screen, not a cellphone.) Crescendo of Doom: 20th Century Battles & Raids (1900-99)www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzEIT4Hp0BRWyZHyGjuP_NOQM-tbej60oNapoleon's Battles (1793-1815)www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzEIT4Hp0BRUCM9Xrd8xu75tm4bt91exY
