what does everyone think about the DAVE CHAPPELLE special STICKS and STONES? The Trump humpers on the Politics board won't shut up about it.

CUMMINS gone now. will STARC score a revenge fifty? but once again, without SMITH, this innings would have been over so long ago.

Some pretty shit cricket from England here. Not the most lively of surfaces, but enough balls in the right areas do just enough to get batsmen out. Helps if you catch dollies mind, but guys like Steyn and McGrath would bowl well on this deck, and wouldn’t have the opposition at 5/360 odd England have been appalling. Steyn and McGrath? Well if either of those had of had a team 28 for 2 like in this match, it would have been a different story for sure! Herein is the problem, Broad has had to carry the absence of Andersen on his own, and has been superb, but even he can't carry this dispirited attack on his own in this match. Very poor, batters - especially the captain - have got to stand up now or stick the white ball cricket trophy up their backsides...

Australia declare at 497/8. Insipid bowling from England. Smith casually helped himself to a double hundred. 142, 144, 92, 211 now in the series.

With the pitch playing the way it is, this is where this match was always going. I don't know if it's a drop in, but it's playing like one. Little in it for bowlers. Get in and bat all day. Take wickets with the new ball. England will likely need every bit of those last two days to be rained out to hold on.
England came into the game talking about "grinding down Australia." How did that work out in Oz? They're sprinters, not marathon runners. Need wickets to be falling to be in games. Out of this one. Only a draw to play for.

Definitely made more mistakes in that innings than in his previous three combined. He was quite lucky.

Definitely made more mistakes in that innings than in his previous three combined. He was quite lucky. I was at work so couldn't see the innings but going to watch the highlights now. Just that he is playing at another level right now. This many runs is just insane.
Was at work and will miss tomorrow too. Hoping to catch exciting finish on Sat & Sun unless rain spoils it. I think Aus would likely win this one.

Root has to stand down after this series, for the sake of his batting, plus he's a shit captain. Threw in the towel with Smith and let him take single after single towards his hundred. His fields are often baffling, his treatment of his bowlers (Woakes/Archer) is poor as well.

Root's captaincy is poor. He sees Stokes and Archer as work horses and uses Leach like Moeen Ali (which is an impact bowler). He can't stick with a plan. He's batting out of position for no good reason at all. And I think the longer he's been in the role the more lost he has looked. It's not working for him. It's not workingbfor England. He should stand down and concentrate on being one of the best No.4 bats in the world.

He’s not the most natural captain I’ve seen. In fact, there really aren’t too many good captains floating around Test Cricket at all really. Kohli, Holder and Shakib are all ‘climb on my back’ style captains, rather than man managers or blessed with tactical nous. Root and Smith are a bit the same, as is Williamson. Karunaratne and Sarafaraz are the ones holding those poisoned chalices, and The rest are captains by default really (FDP, Paine, Rashid Khan and whoever captains Ireland).
Anyways, great partnership by Burns and Root, but both went in the space of 2 overs. 175/4. Once again, plenty of pressure on Bairstow and Buttler to score some meaningful runs and assist Stokes in getting a reasonable score.
