Which leaves the last day to bowl England out. Only rain can save them. Imagine that. Australia 8-122 on Day One are going to win a game by plenty at a ground they never win at.I believe the last time Australia won the Ashes in England they won the opening Test at Edgebaston. 2001 I think with Steve Waugh. Yup, by an innings and 118 runs.

If I had a spare $10, I’d be tempted at that quote. 2 wickets, including Smith, and England is in front.

I’ll tell you what, this match has forever solidified in my mind that Moeen Ali is the most overrated cricketer in the last 20 years. If he gets picked for the next Test, and bowls pies again like he has here, it might just be all time.

13/1 is nuts.
Anyways, England should still be looking at winning this game. Chasing anything up to about 320 is entirely doable on this surface with their batting lineup and Australia’s bowling lineup too.

Every England fan in the country said that Ali should be dropped before this match, but did the selectors listen...
They deserve to lose for picking him in the fist place. If I was Leach I would be well miffed.

PAINE flies while WADE is stuck in the 80s. England has made this boring by not getting wickets. I am switching to India-WI game. Will return to Ashes when England come out to bat.

Over the last ten years on this pitch, it’s been easiest to score runs on the fourth day. The fifth day is far and away the hardest day to score runs on. Sky Sports did an interesting graphic.

Australia lead by 317 with 4 wickets in hand. Smith and Wade have batted them almost into a position where they can’t lose. Australia will push on - Paine and Langer are a bit more conservative was than most. But a draw from 8/122 is a good effort.
