Well, it's still in the balance if England can get the draw, but quite frankly if they can't bat long enough on this pitch to save the match then they don't deserve it anyway. They will have to see off the new ball (unlikely one thinks) and avoid the gloom conditions collapse as was happening in the last couple of hours. Quality from Hazlewood, I'm on record in thread as saying I much prefer him to Starc any day of the week (that will come back to haunt me when Starc once again bullies England's tail)... Very much heartened by Burns for England, has the application to dig in, just got to find a partner now... I'm still going for the draw!

Looks like we're tracking to a series clinching win for Oz with Bairstow going early. Bit of a shame this has been a fairly dull one sided game so far. Easily the least compelling of the series.

Stupid that I ever believed in Buttler's ability. Seems that much like Rohit Sharma he can't play well enough in Tests. He even comes to bat after 6 wickets have fallen.

To be fair aj, Buttler's gone fine here. Far from England's biggest liability with the bat.

England in trouble but Aussies need 2 more wickets.

It's interesting. England really need to soak up another 15-20 overs and add another 50 runs. Whatever target Paine has in mind doesn't change, so every run England score from here is one more Australia need to score. Personally I wouldn't be dangling any carrots. Australia don't need to win here and England can't afford to lose. Just go the Bill Lawry route. "We've dominated this game, so fuck you. You can bat for 130 overs or lose. You don't get any shot at winning."

Would Australia enforce the follow on if England fail to reach 297?

A pair for the Australian.

44/4 Smith still there though. Not much behind him though. and England would fancy a 4th inn7ngs chase of 300 again.

Aus 4/128 a lead of 324 Smith playing some audacious shots on his way to 70* Smith has supernatural powers. This is mind boggling. He might make 1000 runs or more.

England has run out of ideas. I don’t know what Broad is trying to achieve, and Archer is bowling either a slower ball or a bouncer. 82* now. Extraordinary batting.
