It's a perfect night for mystery and horror. The air itself is filled with monsters.

I did not even know that this was being remade. How could I miss this? I do want to see it now that I know about it! I loved the 70's version.

A few links, persephone : here, here, and here. Also a video of filming in Malta here. By the way, great avatar. I'll never pass up an opportunity to praise Bride!

I expected something like that.

I expected something like that. Me too. Not sure exactly how I feel about it, but a young Poirot could work as long as he's not turned into some gun-totin' action hero. "If you mock my little gray cells, Hastings-- you die!" Actually, I'm most worried about Branagh's Poirot now. The moustache in the pictures is terrible; I'd be laughing through the whole picture. And the plot. Branagh said some things would be changed. Umm... As you can't really remove one piece from AC's puzzle without throwing the whole thing off, I can't see how that would work. With that said, there were some things I liked. I'm very relieved that they're keeping the setting in the '30s. A modern Poirot would not work--and, yes, I know Sherlock worked (somewhat... I got bored with the program after Season 2), but adding iPhones and computers and modern sensibilities to MotOE would throw the whole thing off. Also, many of the suspects looked perfectly like their book counterparts (except Arbuthnot, of course, but I don't mind Branagh's choice there).

I don't give a rip about a trailer. I'm just looking forward to seeing Judi Dench do her no nonsense matron thing.

I loved the new ENTERTAINMENT piece, where Branagh said Dench was so interested in doing another movie that she offered to wear the mustache if that's what it took to get into the next movie. Sounds like she wants to do it AMERICAN HORROR STORY style, where it is basically the same cast each time, but playing new roles with each Poirot movie.

It's finally got a poster and the trailer is supposed to drop tomorrow! It doesn't look bad but I'd rather if they did something like the original 1974 film's poster. 20171974

Lets take a moment to appreciate Johnny Depp being in an actual movie for a change.

Anyone know anything about the trailer for this one? It was supposedly shown at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, but apparently the trailer has not yet been released for viewing? I'm looking forward to this one. Trailer is out and it looks good

Never read the novel or watched the original movie. Don't think that's gonna change since it's probably better to go in blind with this one.

I'm looking forward to this one. Trailer is out and it looks good Thanks, Outrider. I saw the trailer yesterday. I've got several complaints--especially with KB's Poirot (that moustache looks ridiculous!) and with his comments about the movie's "changes" from the book (I'm fine with changes, as long as they don't wrench the story wildly out of the original plot and turn it into some fast-paced action flick--Hercule Poirot, action hero extraordinaire!)--but, yes, the trailer looks OK. Naturally, I'll still be around to watch it. I do mean to go to the movies to see at least Pirates of the Caribbean this weekend--and, maybe some other time, Wonder Woman, as that has gotten several good reviews.

I just saw the trailer -- I think the remake cast is a little less interesting than the originals (that was hard to beat! ) and I agree that Poirot's moustache is a little ridiculous ( I have read practically all the Agatha Christie novels that feature him). As I am coming from a position of knowing " who dun it?" having read the book and seen the original movie -- I wonder if there is enough new nuances or plot complications that will be interesting enough ( which I hope can be hinted at in reviews or fan accounts) to lure me to the cinema this time?

I watched the old one, about a month before seeing this latest version. I admit, I never read the book and I've never been Poirot's biggest fan (I tend to prefer the female "little old lady" sleuths), but I felt that they gave every character a facelift to make them interesting, to change their motives/connections to each other/etc. enough to make it interesting if you've seen/read the story before, and they honestly made a movie that is beautiful to look at. The cinematography is excellent. It also has a feel to it, for lack of a better way of describing it - the movie feels like it was made at a different time. It doesn't feel like a 2017 movie, it feels like something that ought to have been on VHS. I mean that in a good way.
