If you thought it was slow and boring before, I doubt this screening will change your mind.

I hope it's the 2001 Director's Edition. By far the best version of the film.

If it's the director's cut, I'd definitely go see it. Even if it isn't, I'd probably go.

Paramount was insanely lucky they were still able to launch a franchise after this steaming pile.

Some flaws aside, to be truthful, I don't think it's a bad film. There are ideas behind it. It's definitely more "Star Trek" compared to the Chris Pine Star Trek films.

It also has what I myself consider to be the Most Disturbing Scene in "STAR TREK" Movie History.

You'd take that over, say, the ear creatures from Star Trek II?

While I enjoyed the theatrical version in my younger days, I don't see myself ever watching it again. The Director's Edition is simply the superior viewing experience.

I own the theatrical cut of ST:TMP as part of the "Star Trek Original Motion Picture Collection", but I've never seen the 2001 Director's Cut, so I would be interested in seeing that in theaters.

As far as I know, the Director's Cut is only available on DVD. I could be wrong about that, however, but the only version I've ever seen being sold on Blu Ray was the theatrical one. The Director's Cut feels more polished. It was re-edited, the effects were enhanced and viewers actually get to see V'Ger the starship towards the end (it's more than simply a cloud in this version), which looks cool.

It's one of the very first dvd's I bought and I still have it. I had hoped they would include that in the Star Trek Movie collection on blu ray but they didn't.
It's worth it just to finally see the V'Ger ship, which is kinda amazing. My second favorite Trek film, behind Wrath of Khan.
