It's incredible - despite having multiple starts where he's been completely shelled to the tune of 8+ runs in 1 inning over the past 2 years, he's been quite the dependable, if unspectacular, starter. Very workmanlike and at $8m per year, he's not that expensive. Plus, you gave up nothing for him.
Good pickup for a stretch run, although I'd be nervous as all hell if he were to start a playoff game.

Blake Parker has cleared waivers from the Twins after being designated for assignment. Phightens pounced on him. Career 3.42 ERA - added veteran depth to the pen

Wonder if they got involved to get Trammell for a possible Syndagaard trade? Read that the Mets want one or more of the Pads young Outfielders. Hunter Renfroe or Manuel Margot. Either Trammell is off to NYC or off to SD as a replacement. Odd that the Mets pitched Thor tonight. Usually a trade bait pitcher will be bumped.

Wonder if they got involved to get Trammell for a possible Syndagaard trade? Sad to lose Puig but the Reds now have a very solid rotation. Plus with Winker and Senzel looking legit, Trammell was expendable. Hopefully they can still try and sign Puig in the winter.

trade deadline is at 4pm (est) didn't MLB scratch the August waiver trade this year? (or am I off?) I thought there would have been a plethora of moves today and wheeling and dealing this year. I expected some chaos like the NBA trade deadline usually is from teams trying to position their squads for a postseason run and others dumping contracts and picking up prospects if they're in rebuild mode been rather underwhelming so far - maybe we'll get a lot of moves prior to 4est and some deals will be announced late

I expected some chaos like the NBA trade deadline usually is from teams trying to position their squads for a postseason run and others dumping contracts and picking up prospects if they're in rebuild mode been rather underwhelming so far - Two non-contending teams (Mets and Reds) have made the two "biggest" acquisitions in Stroman and Bauer, although the Indians got some nice pieces in return, including Franmil Reyes who slots in perfectly as a slugging DH who can spot-start in the OF although he's not a great defender. Syndergaard is off the market but I still expect the Mets to pull off a Wheeler trade to the Astros. We'll see though.

I would trade Gabe Kapler for a bucket of hot dogshit When it's really cold outside, in the teens or lower, picking up dogshit can actually be quite warming for the fingers, even through the bag! Sorry, TMI.

I saw that too and was giddy at the prospect of it! One man's trash... You got giddy, I got nauseated. Ben in 10D is an established hitter. Not having a great year but it's just an off season. Diaz sucks. Heathcliff Slocomb, Eric Gag-me, Daniel Bard, he would fit the pattern.

Greinke to the Astros. Now there’s a solid rotation.
