Yes, it's one of Steven Soderbergh's best imo.
I don't think it deserved a Best Picture or Best Director nomination though, especially since he was already nominated for Traffic the same year.
It is a very straight-forward story. I don't think there is some hidden meaning you are missing.

I liked it a lot. Possibly the most perfect of the best picture noms that year, but also the least ambitious.

It's good of its type. Roberts is excellent (if a little over-rewarded) and Albert Finney is charming as her boss. 6/10

5/10. Good source material story, but too tarted-up by Hollywood. And Julia Roberts has never done a thing for me as an onscreen presence.

The movie was ok (if a bit boring). Julia's performance was fantastic. I don't think her Oscar win was a "career win" at all because she was great. I do not understand how the movie made so much money at the box office (over $100 million).

I liked it and I am not a Julia Roberts fan. The real Brockovich stands out as the waitress.

I don't remember much about it other than it was partly filmed in my hometown

Enjoyable film. Roberts at her most tolerable.

I have not seen the movie but I doubt it would have any re-watch value. hence, it's likely a 5/10 at best. amyghostAgreed. I never understood her appeal either as her overall presence is lacking.

I have not seen the movie but No no. Stop there. You haven't seen it. That's that. You can tell us that you're not interested in it, but trying to guess the grade you'd give it is plain prejudice.

Vits Not in the slightest. I know my taste in movies well (movies of that type also tend not to be all that interesting for me(especially given they further lack in the re-watch dept which is where movies are ultimately made or broke)). so call it a educated guess ; so while it's technically possible I could be wrong on my 5/10 (at best) score for it, I would probably bet money I would not score it above a 6/10 on the high end. or look at the facts for me in general... only around 20% of everything I have seen scores a 6/10 or higher (or around 6-8% being a 7/10 or higher). so just playing the odds straight up, it's not likely to score higher than a 5/10. not that a 5/10 is a bad score for me, just ultimately a forgettable one as it's average which makes it a Thumbs Down at the end of the day. for the record... I did not rate it.
