I had a rosary that was a 165 year old antique, hand carved in Italy. I used to have a fondness for Italian Renaissance Art, and it was a beautiful thing. But I gave it to a friend of mine who is a Roman Catholic; I knew it would have more meaning for her. She's the kind of Catholic that doesn't talk about her religion, she just lives her faith and does things to help others in need. She volunteers frequently at a soup kitchen, mows yards for old folks in her neighborhood, makes repairs to their homes, donates clothing and food. I USED TO DO THAT BEFORE MY OA "KICKED IN".
GOD BLESS HER

petrolinoBut going to weekly Mass is not optional (along with Holy Day's of Obligation) if one is going to remain true to their faith. in fact, official Catholic church teaching say it's a mortal sin (serious sin) to miss weekly Mass without a legitimate excuse. p.s. I am not claiming to be the best Catholic in the world, as I am sure I am not, but I at least try to keep up some minimums and going to weekly Mass is one of those minimum requirements to more legitimately call oneself a Catholic. hell, ill admit I missed Mass for roughly 12 years but, in short, I came back in late 2012.

Well, I take your point, but you know a lot of catholics were angry at the church after recent scandals came to light that they'd actively buried (or in worse cases, perpetuated through their inaction). I live in a catholic community full of Poles, who are from a very catholic nation, and some of the younger ones are still angry and don't regularly attend church. But, I maintain they are good people and good catholics.

Paul's Laugh
Be careful, honey as that is how the devil/demons react at the sight of holy people/things.

Well, I'm going to say OMG instead of yikes... even this agnostic atheist sees the beauty in those rosaries, the elements are incredible! I saw a lot of Italian High Renaissance bas relief pieces like that, and they are amazing. Plus, I am a beader, too. I have an old bas relief crucifix that was my grandfather's, a gift for having donated to the Church of the Little Flowers, if memory serves, and I have often thought of beading a rosary for it. It is the only thing I have that belonged to him. I would use faceted garnets and wrapped loop silver wire. I have a garnet cross that came from the Holy Land; a gift from a friend of my parents, and I could add that in, too. Maybe we should see if Admin would let us start a beaded jewelry board?

I am also a beader and as you have seen my avatar, I have many beaded bedlahs for belly dance. Winnie Calhoun is my favorite artist for unusual rosaries. Her pieces are full of meaning, yet she stays within the requirements for a rosary.

Yeah, I can see their anger and all and that's fine and is just anger. but it still gives them no excuse not to attend Mass weekly etc as it's still the church Jesus Christ started even though I can see scandals like that will drive some away from the church, which I think is especially true with those of a bit weaker faith etc.
sure, I am not saying they are bad people... but in the end, we all need Jesus Christ as there is no other way to Heaven and He established the Catholic church through Peter and it went down through the generations til today. list of Popes since Peter... www.newadvent.org/cathen/12272b.htm ; so with that said, I can say this... it's unwise to leave the Catholic church as one lowers their chances of reaching Heaven since they are leaving Jesus Christ's chruch which He gave us the Sacraments which are there to help assist us grow and try to live more holy lives etc. or look at it this way... if someone commits a mortal sin, which there is a decent chance someone will in their lifetime, the only ordinary way they can be forgiven is through the sacrament of Confession.
p.s. plus, I have heard a lot of people don't even believe in the True Presence in The Holy Eucharist (see the word "Transubstantiation") which for those who don't believe, it won't be all that surprising if they leave the church or don't regularly attend Mass etc.
But your wrong, most of what I say on certain moral issues are not wrong (i.e. abortion is murder, gay agenda and the like is wrong, euthanasia is wrong, sex outside of legitimate marriage is wrong etc) since they revolve around Jesus Christ, which is truth itself, it's not possible for God to be wrong as if you oppose Him, your simply on the wrong side since He determines right and wrong. so it's really got nothing to do with me but whether someones general moral views are inline with Jesus Christ or not. pretty simple stuff ; but since you don't believe in objective truth (which God is objective truth since He created everything and determines right/wrong basically) that's going to put us on opposite sides right off the start. your of the mindset people can make things up as they go along, which inevitably leads to moral decline after enough time passes and people push aside God and head towards moral depravity etc. how much longer before some on the left push for pedophiles "rights"(?). hell, that TEDx video a while ago was basically headed in that direction trying to get people to sympathize with pedophiles which is the beginning.
also, the further someone gets away from the truth, the more they will begin to see those inline with the truth as 'too extreme', when it's really that person who's went off the rails and opposes morality/order etc.
with that said... telling someone what they are doing is morally wrong is actually a act of love for them since your trying to lead them back onto the path to their ultimate good which is Heaven as that's the greatest thing someone can attain and the purpose of life here on earth is to reach Heaven. but those who support immorality etc, and then some give their approval of it, just confirms them in their sin(/destruction) on their path to hell and at that point all is lost for that person. hell is not something you want to mess around with p.s. but as usual... those who are on the wrong side of those issues(i.e. liberals), try to paint the other side (i.e. conservatives) as the villain when it's really them(i.e. liberals) who's at fault. pretty typical stuff on the left nowadays in the mainstream media etc where they portray bad as good and good as bad. backwards as usual.

You should therefore love homosexuals. I love the sinner, not the sin. I am so glad that you love all the proclaimed homosexuals on this Board. I must say, I have NEVER seen evidence of it! You mostly condemn them to heel fo an eternity TBH) Do you peek into the bedrooms of the Boards homosexuals to see if they are sinning? OF COURSE you do, or would if you could. How do you know that people who are homosexuals from birth and can't help it, are sinning?(in your pathetic terms) I am guessing it is abstinence from having sex, upon which you are the Board expert.

That you proclaim on here to love the sinner and yet you are absolutely appallingly bigoted and mean vilifying homosexuals on these Boards. Where is this love? Can you link to it? Either that or you are a lying bigot about homosexuality.
