Not before time, some might say.

anytime anyone talks about players potentially getting hurt in meaningless exhibition/preseason games - my mind always goes to Nelson

One of my favorite Packers to root for. I lived that man. It was a sad day in Packer nation when they cut him. It was mostly understood but sad all the same. Constant professional and looked like he had fun playing the game. Had tremendous chemistry with Rodgers. I'll always have fond memories of him.
I think he would make a good receiver coach one day.

I thought he retired months ago.. Considering what he did with the Raiders, he may as well have retired last year.

I thought he retired months ago.. Considering what he did with the Raiders, he may as well have retired last year. He wasn't that bad for the Raiders. 700+ yards and a 70+ catch % with 11.7 yards per reception. That's better than a lot of guys' final year in the league. Sure, he wasn't the Jordy Nelson that most of us know but age does that to everybody. Just sucks he finished in obscurity with Oakland instead of helping a contender.
