Because I only know two punk bands and the other one is the Ramones.
I don't like them...

The first DK record I ever bought was a 12" extended play disc, In God We Trust Inc. Some great tracks on it including the opener :

I like The Ramones best. I've tried everything from The Clash to The Dead Kennedys to Bad Brains or Green Day and I still like The Ramones the best. I personally think that punk and metal both got too regimented over the years like a bunch of metronomes that started to synchronize when you put them on the same table. Punk became screamy and political and put precepts before songwriting with a personal point of view and metal splintered into a lot of different subgenres that lacked the emotional resonance of early Black Sabbath. I respect that other people won't feel this way and there are still good songs being made but there's no albums I have found that I like listening all the way through like the first Ramones album.

Ramones would be #1 for me. But there are many 'close seconds' as I love so many other bands: Black Flag, X, The Stranglers, The Clash, Rancid Vat, Antiseen, Misfits (1977-83 band), Flesh Eaters, Circle Jerks, Agent Orange, DKs, The Freeze, Crisis, etc. Punk is by far my favorite genre.

MISFITS are my all time favorite band. But I personally don't consider them to be punk!

The Misfits fall under "Horror Punk", which has overlap into Deathrock...45 Grave, Early TSOL and Christian Death, Haunted Garage, Murder City Devils, etc...

If The Cramps are considered punk they'd be near the top (though not sure I would call them that)

If The Cramps are considered punk they'd be near the top (though not sure I would call them that) There are many sub genres of punk and Psychobilly is one of them.

I don't like them... What kind of nutcase doesn't like The Ramones? Also I think you meant Husker Du, right? Great band and I am also a fan of Bob Moulds other stuff as well.
