How would anyone not agree that the 3 best pitchers on the team are the driving force of the rotation? Articles like this are the journalistic equivalent of jerking off.

In my opinion, the Astrosβ trio of Verlander, Cole and Greinke are a very important part of their rotation.

klawrencio79 - What was all this nonsense about trading Thor away? Why were they looking to trade him? They can't be cash strapped, adding Stroman. Can't be rebuilding, since they added a veteran pitcher. Is James Dolan running this team?

klawrencio79 - What was all this nonsense about trading Thor away? Why were they looking to trade him? They can't be cash strapped, adding Stroman. Can't be rebuilding, since they added a veteran pitcher. Is James Dolan running this team? The Wilpons are on par with Dolan in terms of overpowering and unrelenting ineptitude. We heard some of this scuttlebutt in the offseason too. The Mets' brass has always had a touchy relationship with Thor because he isn't afraid to speak his mind and the Mets generally don't like those kinds of players. To me, Syndergaard is a guy who has the ability to become one of the game's best pitchers, his stuff is that good, but he's had injury issues in recent years and he's been on a dogshit team led by a clown car full of cretins. If the Mets were willing to go the Braves route from a few years ago (when they traded away guys like Upton and Simmons as a means of quickly rebuilding the top shelf of the minors), then Syndergaard are Conforto are perfect chips - they're young, under team control for a few more years and they're both above-average players who can make an impact on most rosters. If the Mets were able to pry away a Kyle Tucker, or someone like that, then it's something I think the Mets should definitely explore because the team has a lot of holes that a Syndergaard trade could fill. But they have no balls. That said, I love Syndergaard and I hope he spends his entire career in Queens. In the end, I think they just wanted to throw his name out there just to see what they could get. Adding Stroman cost relatively little in terms of prospects and he fills a rotation hole that is most likely going to be left when Wheeler signs elsewhere in the offseason.
