Hell, her movies tend to be more in the average at best range in general. so it's far easier to find more negative than positive with her movies and not to mention she's quite overrated as some seem to act like she's the gold standard of female acting and she's not even close in my book as her overall presence lacks.

1. Mamma Mia! 2. Still of the Night 3. The Iron Lady 4. Into the Woods 5. Heartburn I love Heartburn, it is one of my favorite of Streep. I feel it is a very rare natural performance she gives here and the film has a nice quirky and easygoing tone to it. Her character has me on her side.

I remember her being good in it, but the movie itself is very boring. I am glad you like the movie though.

Of what I have seen, I don't really dislike the films, though the most boring one of hers that I have seen is Plenty - 85'.
Haven't seen Doubt or Suffragette, but what I have seen in clips, she looks quite comical\caricatured ergo terrible.

Another great example of our huge difference in taste. It is a powerful performance imo.

I thought I would be bored and ended up being pleasantly surprised. The gentle wry humor just appealed to me and it wasn't as superficial as I had anticipated.

I am not a huge fan of subtlety. Real life is for that. Movies is a way to remove myself from reality which is why I prefer exaggeration. That isn't to say their aren't subtle movies and performances I like as well, but they aren't movies I tend to love.

Well, that is the objective of film which in turn becomes subjective. I saw a several minute clip on youtube recently with Viola Davis, who acted rings around Streep and her parody headspace expressions.

Hadn't seen for years and was looking forward to it. It had no oomph and was just dreary.

It comes off like an SNL version of Thatcher.
