Honestly when it comes down to it, I have seen worse Mothers in Movies than the one in " BOOGIE NIGHTS". Alice Krige in " SLEEPWALKERS" Alberta Watson in " SPANKING THE MONKEY" Betsy Palmer in " FRIDAY THE 13th" Lea Massari in " MURMUR OF THE HEART" All 4 of Them were (to me at least) much more worse Mothers than the one in " BOOGIE NIGHTS". "Murmur of the Heart"! Wow! I loved that movie, it had so much spirit and vitality. It was perceptive and funny and fresh and I just loved it. The only part I had trouble with was the ending, which was like a sock in the jaw, out of nowhere and not believable in the least. And what a shame, too, because up till that point, I felt that Lea Massari was a wonderful mother. Next time I watch it, I will just stop 7 or 8 minutes till the ending and turn it off. Though I still reserve so much more dislike for the whacked bitch from "Boogie Nights". She was a very strange, hateful person, she wanted to emasculate her son and more power to him for not letting her. His father might have been a nice man, but he had no spine, and was not able to be there for his son. The boy did the best he knew how with the limited circumstances as well as a huge schlong. This amateur\parody acting scene just cracks me up. Like mention in one of the comments, shows how difficult acting can be to pull of a sequence like this believably.

"I should have killed myself when he first put it in me..." Poor Carrie. Definitely a day when she should have stayed in bed.

None could be anymore horrendous than the one and only: Joan Crawford should not have ever had children. After six or seven miscarriages/abortions, she should have left bad enough alone!

Until the last five seconds, I thought the guy was semi-believable. He looked like he was really getting into it.

He couldn’t quite pull of the rage aspect without going full mommie dearest. I guess too because he was obviously male, it couldn’t help but be conceived as parody.

Yes, that is a telling sign, but we know she only adopted for publicity. I do wonder if she did have her own biological children, how they would have been treated.

"I should have killed myself when he first put it in me..." Poor Carrie. Definitely a day when she should have stayed in bed. I don't even know if Carrie would have been safe in her bed with that crazy woman for a mother. She had the power and even if Carrie hadn't experienced any tragic incident at the prom and had a lovely time, Margaret was intent on not allowing a witch to live. Poor kid was doomed regardless.
