Eerie Examples Of Early Electronica
'Brandenburg Concerto No 2 In F' (1968) - Wendy Carlos
'Pot Au Feu' (1968) - Delia Derbyshire
'Usral' (1969) - Eliane Radigue
'Paris 1971' (1971) - Suzanne Ciani

Inside the studio : John Carpenter & Alan Howarth composing music for horror in 1980
"There are two different stories in horror: internal and external. In external horror films, the evil comes from the outside, the other tribe, this thing in the darkness that we don't understand. Internal is the human heart."

That Eliane Radigue track is about the eeriest piece of music I've heard in a very long time. It would, in fact, creep the devil out of some people I know, late at night, alone - yeah, even me. Extremely suggestive and leaving the mind prey to all manner of thoughts. Quite refreshing to hear a piece of music from 1969 that is as far removed from Flower Power, Carnaby Street and Beatles as I am from the moon. I rather enjoyed it in my way.

I feel much the same. Think it could be used very effectively on a gothic horror soundtrack.
