Why does this guy keep getting roles? He's fucking terrible. Seriously , does nobody notice how bad an actor he is?

yea, not a fan either...Ruffalo always delivers his lines the same way in every movie...Like a sarcastic stoned guy who suffers from depression...

Why does this guy keep getting roles? He's xxxxxxx terrible. Seriously , does nobody notice how bad an actor he is? Possibly because casting directors and directors and the other folks who actually make the movies seem to think he is not a "hack" ?

They were never able to prove it really was him.

They were never able to prove it really was him. You could be onto something. For years I used to confuse him with Benjamin Bratt.

Why does this guy keep getting roles? He's fucking terrible. Seriously , does nobody notice how bad an actor he is? I do not suggest he is outstanding or has a great range. I do know that he is far better than most at picking his roles, or maybe he has a good agent. As a result he has appeared in a lot of good films, two or three very good films, and one masterpiece. Directors go to him because he is reliable and does the job, without scene-stealing or being difficult. As his looks were never his main asset, he could go on irritating the OP for another two decades or more. I have seen and liked him in the following. (There are even more I have not seen. Perhaps he is terrible in those?) Spotlight (2015). Good film. Joint lead and fine. Foxcatcher (2014). Mediocre film. The two leads were odd and leaden respectively, but Ruffalo (though miscast) was fine. Margaret (2011). Outstanding film. Ruffalo excellent in supporting role. Date Night (2010). Lightweight fluff. Don't even remember him in it. Shutter Island (2010). Another Scorsese disappointment but Ruffalo was fine. The Brothers Bloom (2008). Mediocre film but Ruffalo was OK. Reservation Road (2007) Formula movie but well done. Ruffalo was excellent. Zodiac (2007). Good film. It is a slow moving procedural so little chance for actors to shine, but Ruffalo did his job. All the King's Men (2006). Mediocre remake. I do not remember Ruffalo in it. In those days I probably thought he was Benjamin Bratt. Collateral (2004). Good psycho thriller spoiled by cliched ending. I do not remember Ruffalo in it. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004). I never liked this film, but my beef was with the concept and screenplay. All the actors were fine. Windtalkers (2002). Good idea bungled. Ruffalo had only a small part. The Last Castle (2001). Well-made but morally suspect movie. Ruffalo had only a small part. You Can Count on Me (2000). Very good film. Ruffalo was excellent. His break-out role. Ride with the Devil (1999). Ruffalo had a small part. I have not seen any of his earlier films. So he is not a charismatic lead, but an excellent team-player. And no, he does not have a great range, but nor do 80% of good actors.

Yeah he's still overrated even though everyone hates him. That tells you how little I think of him.

The amazing world of likes and dislikes. Personally I think he's great. He's one of the actors whose name on the cast makes me wanna check out the movie more than if he wasn't on it.

You mean the people who actual work in the film industry? Hmm. You might be onto something there.

I enjoy some of his performances a great deal. I like him and the movies I've seen him in, especially Shutter Island, Zodiac, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and In the Cut.

Back when "You Can Count on Me" came out, I thought he was really bland in that movie.
I saw him in quite a few movies after that, but it was not until "Zodiac" that I began to appreciate him. I now quite like him.

The miscasting of him as Bruce Banner is almost insulting

Nah. He's given the most sympathetic Bruce Banner since Bill Bixby.

Nah. He's given the most sympathetic Bruce Banner since Bill Bixby. Bruce Banner was never some Aloof guy with no personality whatsoever. He was just a scientist. Doesn't mean he has to be clueless on dealing with others. Women especially
