I was going through some really old boxes of childhood things and found my old collection of Calvin and Hobbes anthologies. I have a distinct memory of my mom taking me via bus to a bookstore to buy one of them. That was a great day. Any Calvin and Hobbes fans? BATouttaheck ?

Calvin & Hobbes and Far Side were the top of the line when it comes to daily / Sunday comics.

Who ? Never hoid of 'em !
I read a sad note once-upon a time where-in it was stated that "Calvin was a neglected child, unloved by his parents, whose only friend was a tatty toy tiger." Recommended that they get a sense of humor transplant.
but seriously (and please forgive the off-topic-ness ) …. Spooky Ghost Ackbar ...was just thinking 'bout you cuz it's been ltns and up you surfaced !

All I can say is the movie was horribly miscast. The Rock looks nothing like a stuffed tiger.

As I type this, if I slightly raise my head and turn it to the right, I see a framed print of Calvin and Hobbes hanging on my wall.

Calvin and Hobbes is the greatest daily comic strip of all time. That is not up for discussion.

I discovered them not in a newspaper but in one of those anthologies you mentioned. It was my cousin’s and I read them all.

Like many parents before me, I had tried (and mostly failed) to pass on to my son (now in his late twenties) a number of things that I had found enjoyable when I was younger, but Calvin and Hobbes, for whatever reason, turned out to be one of the few things that he really seemed to appreciate.
