Back on the IMDb games boards, another user said they wanted to get a list going of movie aliases. We came up with quite a big list so I thought rather than let it disappear I should repost it here.
These are the ones they started with:
Margot Tenenbaum (Gwyneth Paltrow) uses the alias “Helen Scott" to rent an apartment in the movie Royal Tenenbaums.
Another example: Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin's character) in 30 Rock uses the fake name "Vic Nightingale" when he attends jar collector meetings.
Or Kelly (Anna Faris) uses the alias “Evelyn Waugh” for her hotel booking in Lost in Translation. [runrealfast] PSYCHO -- Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) signs the Bates Motel Register as 'Marie Samuels'
EVIL UNDER THE SUN -- Patrick Redfern (Nicholas Clay) used his knowledge as a Latin teacher to be previously known as 'Felix Ruber'
TOOTSIE -- Michael Dorsey (Dustin Hoffman) becomes television actress 'Dorothy Michaels' [matt_garth]

Vanessa Redgrave as Agatha Christie in Agatha books into a hotel under the name 'Evelyn Crawley' (her husband's mistress). In Son of Dracula (1943), Lon Chaney Jr calls himself 'Alucard' when he moves to the USA. Madeline Kahn's character in The Cheap Detective (1978) variously calls herself Carmen Montenegro, Denise Manderley, Gilda Dabney, Chloe Lamar, Alma Chalmers, Alma Palmers, Vivian Purcell and Mary Jones. (Possibly some others.) In the same movie, 'Vladimir Tserijemiwitz' (Sid Caesar) calls himself 'Ezra C.V. Mildew Dezire Jr', which is pretty much an anagram of his name. In Sleuth (1972), Michael Caine’s character Milo Tindell disguises himself as a police officer called Inspector Doppler to play mindgames with Laurence Olivier. In Young Sherlock Holmes (1985), Anthony Higgins as the teacher Mr Rathe is actually an Egyptian whose real name is Eh Tar, and who ultimately reinvents himself as Professor Moriarty. In Angel Heart, 'Louis Cyphre' (De Niro) is actually an alias used by Lucifer, who of course has many other names. Harry Angel (Mickey Rourke) finally discovers that he used to be a crooner called Johnny Favorite.
