It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, but Rat Race was still pretty enjoyable.

Rat Race
It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World is just TOO long for a comedy. It wears out it's welcome at least 30 minutes before it's over.
I mean seriously, it's longer than The Godfather: Part II.

Astonished Rat Race is winning.
...yet, it's my pick too. Had I been a little kid in the 60s, I'm sure I'd find it funnier. But I grew up with Rat Race.

The only real problem I had with Rat Race was its ending. It's such a funny movie and they end it with this schmaltzy, politically correct final bit.

IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD 9/10 I consider RAT RACE to be an unofficial remake of IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD. Specially since it has the same title in Spanish. One of the few things I didn't like about the original was the climax, where all the characters were literally thrown around. It was very mean-spirited. I know the rest of the movie may have seem mean too, but it really wasn’t. The difference was thin, but it was there. Anyway, this movie is mean-spirited from beginning to end. And I was annoyed by the way every single object was coincidentally placed in the right place for every gag. It was too convenient. Well, maybe I'm looking too much into it. Maybe it wouldn't have bothered me if the comedy had been funny. The ending sucks. The sentimentality is phony, and it doesn't fit with the rest of movie. 3/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.

Not a huge fan of either, but I saw Rat Race theatrically and couldn’t wait for it to be over. Not one of the worst films I’ve ever seen but just about any movie Mr. Bean did in America is pretty bad in my opinion. Especially when he tries to play an Italian. Mad World is okay but a little too long.

Mad World is okay but a little too long. Pretty much agree with you on this, with the exception of Mr. Bean's Holiday. Although that one does commit the occasional sin of allowing a bit of schmaltz to seep through, it's probably the best big-screen carryover of Bean to remain pretty true to the character as originally conceived by Atkinson (it's also a pretty nifty little tip of the hat to Jacques Tati, IMO). Overall, Atkinson doesn't translate well to Hollywood idiom, except in a few moments in most of his films. But even with that said, he was still one of the few things that kept me sitting through RR for the entirety of the film. MMMMW does go on too long, but it has enough funny to get it over most of the longueurs, and it does have Buster Keaton, albeit in an all-too-brief appearance. So it gets the palm over Rat Race for me, and it does refrain from the need to put a sentimental gloss on the basic venality and nastiness of the characters just to tidy up the ending.
