I think Jamie Lee Curtis has some very masculine qualities. Androgynous people can be very attractive, sexy people sometimes. But, the reference really was to that old rumor about JLC being a hermaphrodite. JLC was never a typical screen beauty, but she did have her own allure and innate sexiness in her heyday. I have always pretty much seen her as an acting asset to the films she stars in and whatever sexy attributes she possesses comes secondary. Except of course for that last one she did when she played a geriatric Ramboette in the abysmal Halloween update last year. That one was a shocker for all the wrong reasons. Her body was very well proportioned. If only she didn't look (like always) like that bitch from Superman II.

Tee-hee! Not only was the character offputting, but it was totally not the direction that her original Laurie Strode would have likely taken in life. The teenage Laurie Strode may have been a strong young woman, but she really was not the unlucky/terrified type. She seemed very family-oriented to me, shy and unassuming and sweet and very likeable. 17 year old Laurie had a strong head on her shoulders and by the time you are 17, this trait pretty much does not go away. I know her mixed up LS in 1998 "H20"- which I did like - was supposed to be traumatized from her experience with MM, but somehow that was easier to take than her ready-for-the-Apocalypse version of Granny Clampett. The sequel cum remake was abysmal. I do like that word! The Halloween series just got very confused after the original H2 when Myers was burnt to a crisp in the hospital, in which Loomis sacrificed his own life as well. Then they freakin' come back in the late 80's!
I liked H20 more than I thought I would and Laurie was understandably messed up, but it was like a metaphor for fighting her own demons and what her fear manifested. It didn't matter if it really was Uncle Micheal or not after her son, his nephew.
Last years sequel cum, remake, reboot, whatever the frick it was, to my mind failed to deliver what it promised, or could have promised. It wasn't its own movie, making stupid references and nods to all the other Halloweens that came after the original, even the Zombie versions, when it was supposed to be a direct continuation of the first ignoring what had gone after it. It really pissed me off with every direction it took and was made for the short attention span of millennial mentality. Compromises were made, my intelligence got insulted and it did what it achieved, made a ton of money which it didn't deserve.

Curtis was sexy in Trading Places, A Fish Called Wanda and True Lies and she exploited this aspect well and balanced out with her acting talent made it all work and she could bring out a warm intensity as well when needed to her roles. Yes, Sarah Douglas! I never thought of that before, nice comparison!
