Of course, it wasn't a matter of "nobody" questioning these things "back in the day" ! Many people found this one particularly cringe worthy. I don't see anything wrong with that even if it came out today. Let's be honest. Some blacks really do sound like that. "Hey lil' brutha. Would youse likes some pancakes today?" "Sho nuff I would." "Then let's go and axe mom to makes 'em for us."

I don't see anything wrong with that even if it came out today. That does not surprise me one bit. Cringeworthy then and your suggestion is even more so.

These actors wrote their own dialog for this bit and they knew they were making fun of blacks for the way they talk. It is clearly a joke. But the SJW PC snowflake Nazis who are white and somehow think they have to speak out for those who they take offense for would not allow this today since they get their panties in knots over the littlest thing where they shouldn't take anything personal.

WarrenPeaceCome on.. apples and oranges. A satiric comedy movie and a print ad are NOT the same thing .. as you well know. The movie dialogue would possibly not raise a ruckus today. Especially if it were a Spike Lee film. BUT you suggested that those words be used in an ad NOW to sell pancake mix and that you would not cringe. That perhaps says more about you than you intended.

.....that probably wouldn't be acceptable today ?? SAVE FERRIS Symbols of treason, pure and simple. And it's unfortunate it took nine people being murdered in a house of worship for for me to come to that realization. Find visual proof that it was used during the years between the end of the Civil War and the early years of the Civil Rights movement, it won't change my opinion on the bullshit of the flag's "heritage".

Throwing rubbish in the ocean. I remember when I was holidaying in Thailand in the late '80s with my family, we were on a ferry with these Buddhist monks. It was lunchtime, and one of them tossed his flip-top polystyrene noodle container over the side into the water like it was nothing. It’s not a tip, dipshit.

It's just that those voices could be conveniently discounted or completely ignored by the majority back then.

Mad Men (2007 - 2015) had quite a few of them, but the one I remember was Don throwing trash on the ground and not even giving it a second thought.
We're more environmentally cautious nowadays than we were in the 1950s (well, most of us anyhow).
