The Joker R rating has finally been confirmed by the MPAA, and it’s for all the reasons you would expect.
It has been promised for ages that the Joker movie would receive an R rating, and it has now been confirmed by the film’s website. The listed reasons include:
STRONG BLOODY VIOLENCE, DISTURBING BEHAVIOR, LANGUAGE AND BRIEF SEXUAL IMAGES

Sounds like hot garbage. I guess I'll have to put this with Venom and Dark Phoenix on the list of comic book movies I'll never watch.  |

It’s been stated that this movie will have virtually nothing to do with the comics, outside of some names and locations. This isn’t a superhero movie. It’s a psychological drama. It’s not supposed to be competing with any of the movies from Marvel. It’s supposed to be something completely different.

A PG-13 rating wouldn’t make sense for the kind of film it’s supposed to be.
