My two favorite things about the TV series The Jeffersons: the great theme song, and the way that George called his wife, Louise, "Weezy." It made their marriage seem more affectionate, unlike most other TV couples. Lucy and Ricky were always Lucy and Ricky on I Love Lucy; the Cleavers of Leave it to Beaver called each other June and Ward; the Father Knows Best Andersons were always Jim and Margaret; on Family Ties, the parents always called each other Steven and Elyse; etc. Can anyone give any examples of a TV character, besides George Jefferson, who had a cute pet name for his/her spouse? (Besides "honey" or "dear," or just a shortened name such as "Rob" on The Dick Van Dyke Show?)
Oh yeah, now I remember there was one episode in which Edith mentioned how that nickname got started, when Archie started calling her his "little dingbat" when they were still dating. I guess she was the only one who still regarded it as a term of endearment.
